I have a 2020 2SS with the A10 because I was too smart to settle for the A8 and all it's problems.

Please get some shutters for your A8.
They will spruce it up nicely

I had the A8 and now have the A10. I never had the shudder on the A8 but it had some other weird problems. I would jerk really bad going into second or third after cold starts, and by the end of my time owning it I couldn't do any hard pulls or it would feel like it was about to break. Cruising was fine though.

The A10 is much better IMO but had the A8 not had any issues it wasn't THAT big of a difference for most driving situations.

Yes I realize that, it’s called sarcasm. I may be Canadian but I’m not stupid.

I would guess the older and wiser folks on this forum have more m6 than younger people , percentage wise.

I thought that there was someone on here that found out the A8 was rated for higher power than that A10, so if you are going to mod the engine you may have more leeway.

I don't think it was ever definitive but when the A10 came out we compared mag 0-60 times and it was a wash.

Sorry I can't compare the two. I stayed away from the A8 just to avoid the possibility of problems. I went with the A10. I love this transmission and I plan on adding more power through it. Such a big difference from where I left off almost a decade ago with the 4L60E.
That being said, the A8 supposedly has a higher torque rating. I have seen guys up at my track running 9s 1/4 with the A8 so it's no slouch. Take this for what it is.

TORQUE CAPACITY LISTINGS FOR LATE MODEL GM OVERDRIVE AUTOMATICS
TRANSMISSION TORQUE CAPACITY
(LB-FT)
4L60E 380
4L65E* 430
4L70E* 495
4L75E* 650
4L80E 440
4L85E* 685
6L80E 650
8L90E 715
10L80E 590
10L90E 685
* These torque ratings are for the aftermarket Chevrolet Performance transmissions. The remaining listings are stock transmission ratings that tend to be more conservative. Note for instance the significant difference in torque capacity between the Chevrolet Performance 4L85 and the production 4L80E. It is likely that the stock 4L80E can handle much more torque than the factory rating of 440 lb-ft.

I've been here since 2017, and this A8 vs A10 theme comes up every other month or so. Very few people had both and expended effort into making both of them perform at their best, yet the prevailing conclusion is "A8 crap, A10 king".

I am not going to belabor this anymore, and it's true that my A10 experience is very, very limited (I don't have a ZL1 myself), I'll just say one thing: with the proper Mobil 1 fluid and a proper A8 tune (thank you, Ted Jannetty) the only real difference is the extra gear between the A8's 4th and 5th that the A10 has, plus a tiny bit faster shifts with the A10, maybe, the rest is mostly perception and regurgitated memes.

Impossible. The A8 is crap. I read it on the internet! Has to be true!

Also, I think I know one of those guys running 9’s with a stock, untouched, A8 that has never shuddered or given any problems over nearly 6 years of use.
