They just emphasized it more in the 1LE marketing material. They have the same amount of coolers. This has been discussed in a dozen different threads.

I think some people underestimate how good the SS performs stock.

The 1LE does have some unique goodies and besides, it looks badass! ;-)

Here's what MotorTrend had in their tests - Remember that they correct their numbers to remove influences like temperature or heigth.

I have a 1SS, and when up on the lift, we saw the oil lines going back to the rear end for cooling. Definitely there. Pretty much a basic car.

Man.... I keep looking at stuff like this because I really REALLY want a SS 1LE but they are so hard to find used. However I could pick up a 1SS manual npp pretty easily and afford upgrades right off the bat. I wish God would just place the correct car in front of me or tell me to stop being so picky...
I guess that's what happens when it's your first sport car purchase.

I'd be curious how close the cars would be with a wheel and tire swap and possibly the springs.

I originally had a 16 1SS w/mag ride, did a track day on it, then traded up to a 1LE. I shaved about 5 seconds between the two (1:51 down to a 1:46), but part of that was just myself improving as a driver (my 1st ever track day was in the 1SS, 2nd ever track day in the 1LE). I will say that the 1LE is much more capable on the track. 1LE feels more connected to the road, and the eLSD helps a ton, especially on corner exit. Even being held better by the Recaros helps since I was sliding around a bit in the 1SS. I'd be willing to bet that even if you gave the 1SS the suspension/tires/brakes from the 1LE, I'd bet you're still looking at at least 0.5s slower around a 2-minute course due to the eLSD, if not even more.
I originally bought the 1SS with the plans to make it into a pseudo-1LE by adding the parts mentioned above, but the cost per performance gained from aftermarket stuff just didn't make sense to me considering what it cost to trade up. IMO, the extra cost of the 1LE is definitely worth it, especially if you plan on taking it to the track.
