My original battery with a date code of 12/09 finally gave up the ghost. Taking the battery out of my 2017 Ram 1500 since it's the same size and putting a deep cycle in the truck.

Its possible. You will need to watch them, however. Batteries (at least mine) have been averaging a lifespan of roughly 6 years, and that is with a tender (My ZL's battery tanked after 6 years, and my TBSS battery lasted 9 years.....both were on tenders). What happens with a battery is that a cell inside of a battery may go dry or fail, which causes it to go dead. Its good that your batteries have lasted to this point but you will need to watch them. When and if they go dead, just make plans to replace them because their ability to store power will be greatly compromised.

Changed my original battery after 11 years and 1 month.....it still started the car but was getting weaker....figured it was gonna either get changed in my garage or in a dark parking lot in the middle of torrential downpour, so I opted for being proactive.

Mine gave up right before this winter at 8 years. Not bad for a 6 year oem battery and only 36k miles on the car. Just park it in the garage over Winter and get it back out in the Spring, no tender ever. Probably would've made it longer if I had put it on one.

Replaced mine this summer. Car rolled off the line in ‘09 so, approximately 11 years of service. She’s on a tender 24/7.
