I just order a Cold air for my Camaro, Need help

I just ordered from GM the factory cold air kit for my Camaro, I just want to know if anybody's installed one of these and how difficult are they. I used to be a great wrench but now I'm a disabled Vet, I can't tighten stuff down and not tighten. so I just need to know is this something I can do or do I need to send it to the dealership. I know it's hard to tell what I can do but hope somebody can help me out with this

I believe there was a recent post in the GD forum about it. Yes it’s rather easy. Like you said though, not surge what you’re capable of doing.

Did call for a dealer install price?

They will do the tune as well.

Oh, & I appreciate your service & sacrifice.

The installation should not be overly difficult. You'll have to be able to loosen/tighten things like the band clamps on the hoses and obviously the various bolts that attach the housing under the hood. But, it's not like you're trying to put your wheel back on and have to apply 140 ft-lbs of torque.

You notice any difference? Louder intake noise? Throttle response any better? Normally I have had volant on one truck then modded box/k&n with airaid tube on another. Do our cars gain much from a CAI ?
Thanks
Richie

Definitelymuch more intake sound at higher throttle settings, throttle response is a bit better... On the Cold Air Inductions website (who makes this intake for GM) claims something like a 13 HP gain... But even if there is no power gain, it looks and sounds great...

Its an easy install, just make sure you like up the MAF sensor with the housing dot to dot, mine had an insert page that showed how to do the step, I doubt it a 13 hp gain but who knows, I'm not sure the tune that is available does much. But it looks nicer than the stock box.

Someone nearby has got to be able to install this for him. I’d jump at it if I was close. Small change for what this dude has done for us.

OP, thanks for your service!

I am a vet, just ordered mine for my 2020 ss. If you don't have yours installed by then, I could walk you through step by step.

the install is easy. i would suggest still taking it to a dealer after. with the intake comes a custom tune for that unit on in a camaro. so don't throw away the paperwork after you install it as the code for the tune is on the paperwork.
