Guys....I still haven't gotten under my car to look...I've been under it to check the oil pan for the possible oil pickup recall, but I forgot to look at the filter (dang it!)

So...once and for all, what oil filter does the SS come with, stock??

So far I'm seeing:
AC Delco PF64
M1-113
I've also seen AC Delco PF48E, which my local parts place showed when I asked them about ordering one for me. But I felt like the PF64 might be the one I wanted instead so I held off.

The ACDelco website shows both....soo....which do I REALLY want?

Its the AC Delco PF64. Most parts stores don't seem to have these. Picked mine up at the local chevy dealer. Parts guy re-verified, plus the PF64 is the one I took off.

I did notice today driving the car since I changed to Mobil 1 EP, the engine seems to want to rev up faster...Might be in my head.

What's the drain plug torque spec? (Why, yes, I am OCD about mechanical work, why do you ask?)

Oil change

You can see from the pictures that both the drain plug and oil filter are very accessible. Let the new filter set for a few minutes after you pre fill it to let the filter absorb the oil. You will need to top it off of few times prior to installing it. Also, clean off the surfaces where the filter gasket and drain plug o-ring mate to ensure there is no dirt.
Nice post, nice pics. So there is nothing more to do than pull the oil plug, drain, replace filter and add 10 quarts? Nothing else due to presence of sump?

When raising the front, is there a spot on the K member which can be used for this? I saw the other video from sledgehammer70 about jacking using the side pinch welds. This seems like extra work given that if it can be raised from the front center, you can place both side jack stands at the same time.

Any pics of this area?

For those of you new to oil changes, make sure you don't double gasket the filter!!!! Bad things will happen.

Did the chin guards scrape on the ramps as you drove your car on them?

double gasket the filter? what kind of POS filter loses it's gasket and gets stuck on the block to even make that possible?

I've never heard of that in my life.

It happens. Maybe from the filter being on a long time, over tightened, who knows.

I learned the lesson back in auto shop in hs when a fellow student got an earful from the instructor for failing to verify this. New filter installed, oil filled, then a whole big mess under the lift after he started the car.
