Common Warranty Issues

My 2017 1LE will be out of the 3/36 bumper to bumper by time in a couple weeks. Is there any other common issues I should look for to have taken care of while its at the dealer having the phone pairing issue looked at?

Thank you!

I just took mine to the dealership for the same reason. Warranty is up next week. They found the oil pan gasket leaking and they are replacing the end link bolts. I was going to have them do the oil change while it was there, but they wanted $137! I politely declined and said I will do it myself.

Oil pan leak found today. It's an expensive fix if out of warranty..

If they're replacing the oil pan gasket under warranty the oil is included in the job.

The oil is free when they change the gasket.

Also, $137 is pretty cheap. Avg cost of synthetic is about $10 a quart and this car takes 10 and the filter is another $7. How much are you really saving doing it yourself? Lol

But at least doing it yourself you know it is done right and you know what oil is REALLY being put in the car...

I’ve been quoted 60-80 buy the dealer. Ended up changing it myself for $28. Used Kirkland dexos oil.

True, the oil should be free, when replacing the oil pan gasket!
$50 Mobil 1 synthetic at Waltmart, for 10 qts, plus $8 for AC Delco filter from Summit Racing, plus I can do it in about 25-30 minutes. I don’t trust dealer mechanics, some lazy, others are hurried, and some don’t give a shit. So yeah, I think it’s worth it doing it myself. But, hey… whatever floats your boat!

Front sway bar end links.

NPP exhaust rattle.

Clutch engagement (my pressure plate diaphragm was uneven and the car had shudder since day one).

Rear end groan - some SS 1LEs have this issue.

Clunky shifting - especially at slow speeds. Known issue so the dealer will at least put fresh fluid in the transmission.

Half shaft bolts coming loose - usually feels like a weak thud from the rear of the car.

Any annoying rattles the car may have developed.

Look at your spoiler ends on the trunk itself. I have an issue with the paint being eaten/ chipped away. You may have it to. Still waiting to here back from GM on my part but have it notated at least before your warranty is up.

I wish...mine was done in November. 1st SS 1LE in Florida. Being first does have a bad side, sometimes.

It’s funny but not...the LT doesn’t have a oil pan gasket. Nor does it have a front or rear cover gasket. After years of having reusable and very well made metal gaskets with o-rings GM decided to just RTV the engine covers on the blocks. How’s that working.....

Mine hasn’t started leaking, hopefully it doesn’t but that isn’t the first time I have heard the pans leaking.

Only issue I had with mine is a leaking water pump gasket. Fixed under warranty but I would look at that too.
