Tools/spare tires and wheels/gas cans/lots of other stuff to bring with these days.

At some of the bigger tracks it's great to have a pit bike to go watch some of the other groups on the track.

Just like track cars....how much you want to devote to it, how deep you want to get in, how much you want to spend!

Lots of different choices. My favorite part right now is the GMC 2500HD Diesel. Unbelievable truck. Gets 21mpg not towing at 80mph on the interstate. Gets 12 towing the trailer and car. Pulls through the mountains at 2,000 rpm up the hills and engine brakes down.

Love my truck!

Thanks!! Makes those long trips to fun tracks a lot more enjoyable. Close to 5hrs to RoadAmerica....12 hours to Road Atlanta...17 hours to COTA. All more doable with this set up.

I am curious if anyone has experience using a 2nd generation Colorado or Canyon to tow their trailered Camaro. Max trailer towing capacity is 7000 lbs.

Would recommend against it, my Ram 1500 with a 9,200 lb capacity is at its limits. Not so much power wise, but highway stability and braking. Shoot, the curb weight of a Colorado would be less than what you are pulling. It can be done very carefully, but you’re right at the limit.

You’d be well over that with anything other than a featherlight trailer and a camaro on it. Remember, any payload subtracts from towing capacity. Max tow capacity is typically rated with nothing in the bed, and one person in the vehicle.

GMC Sierra 1500 6.2L. Towed down to COTA, up to Mosport and down to Lime Rock without issue back when I had the Mustang

04 Dodge Ram Diesel 4x4. 6" Carli lift. 4.88 gears. 37" tires.
I originally built it to tow a 30' toyhauler through the sand which it did very well.
Now it just relaxes towing my Miata to the track on occasion.

I haven't towed the camaro yet.. but my setup is:
2004 GMC Sierra 2500 with the 496ci BBC/Allison trans/4.10 gear
Featherlite 3110 17.5' trailer

I am a bit concerned about getting the car on the trailer as the 3110 has a 4-5" tall lip around the front and sides of the trailer.. some quick measuring shows the car would fit with between 1-1.5" of clearance to the sides (per side) before scratching the wheels.. that's some fairly exact loading (without a winch) or I need some wheels that I don't care about.

Thanks - I haven't really towed many trailers in my life. I kinda figured I would be SOL on this. Just ordered a new 2018 Canyon with the integral trailer brake control to replace my 2015 Canyon anyway, just in case. It wasn't much more.

My buddy upgraded his trailer and brought it to Mosport yesterday: look ma, no ramps!
Made in New Zealand. Remote controlled pully lowers the whole rig right down and almost flat. Solar powered battery included.
Beutiful finish on it too. Makes my ex Aluma look like an amateur kit. $10G.
