Why is this important? You can't do that now with gassing up your ICE.

i could really make do with a mere 500 horsepower if the price was comparable to an ICE engine and the charging capability was there.

Well we can be sure of one thing, it will be hideous to the point that no self respecting man will drive it...its some sort of law about EVs.

Wifey: Honey, I'm taking the Hummer to WalMart, grabbing some groceries. Want anything from Starbucks?

Hubby: Nah. Make sure to strap Timmy in the harness before you go. He faceplanted the back window again taking him to school this morning.

You do realize your Camaro "makes" close 10k lb ft of torque to the tires?

This is all marketing like king said to people who don't understand the concept of work and energy. Plus they can make claims (started by Tesla) that are very misleading and stretch the truth. I could make 10k lb ft of torque as well on a bicycle but how long and how far can I sustain that torque? The same goes for the HP rating at what speed does this occur? And how long? Manufactures don't have to follow the SAE rules for staying engine output like gas engines, although there maybe one in the works for electric.

I don't think there will be any upgrading or modifying, all the systems will be encrypted and secured, welcome to the self driving, "zero emissions" fantasy. Our cars are going to be the last performance cars that are modifiable.

0-60 in 3 seconds.........in a truck.
My issues with one are:
-I want a manual trans
-I don't see charging technology in existence today to charge it between track sessions, reliably. And my cars can get double stinted.. so that's 30 minutes charging to run up to 1 hour at full pace on track.
-Weight = higher track consumables.

I'm OK with EVs for normal usage but that's not what I use a Camaro for. I still think one needs an ICE car if they like doing road trips. And right now an EV truck is silly.. I haul 12k between the trailer, car and parts so I can't imagine how long (and how much planning) a trip to Road America, or COTA, or Laguna Seca, etc would take.

Eventually EVs will overcome all that. Or maybe we will finally just run hydrogen fuel cells.

Was that 11,500 Tq number real ? I would think that number has a place where "working" trucks are involved. I'm sure the $100K+ price does not have a place though. The price point is the area where the good ole trusty diesel is good enough and has the edge.

I have to say I am a bit surprised by many of your responses.

Would you like a Camaro with 350 MORE HP than a ZL1, a car that could destroy anything on the planet. Nope, I’m good. Love the rumble of a V8 that’s well behind a ZL1. Immmmmmmm good, thanks.

I agree!

I live in the "Land of Prius & Teslas" (i.e. Kalifornia) and I just happily bought a 2020 2SS with the LT1 engine and NPP and LOVE the sound of it!

I don't care about 1,000 HP if it sounds like a sewing machine going by...

I don't think I've taken my exhaust out of Track Mode since I've had the car!!!

Maybe some young kid who grew up glued to their smartphone and didn’t grow up starting at 7 or 8 years old wrenching in the garage can see your point, but I really doubt you’ll ever find a current Camaro owner - especially on this forum - who’d ever touch an 800 hp electric Camaro before they’d own a 650 hp gas Camaro.

Not really making a point that isn’t in the air. We talk about performance but apparently only to a point. A 1,000 hp Camaro that would destroy a Tesla roadster and even a Corvette ZR1? Nope, the Camaro is ONLY about old school performance.

I’m still inclined to ICEs, but at some point we start to look ridiculous in our hanging on to our history.
