Having driven a couple of EVs, I can definitively say that is the best way to sit in traffic on the daily commute. That being said, I didn't buy a Camaro to be the best commuter.
Ideally, I'd have two cars, an EV for daily driving duty and an ICE sports car for track days and autox. I want my fun car to be engaging, powered by gasoline and with a manual transmission. I don't care how much faster the EVs and DCTs are, I prefer shifting my own gears. The enjoyment I get is continuing to push whatever I have even further each session. Whether the car can run a 2:30 or 1:50, is fairly irrelevant, as long as I'm enjoying it the whole time. Also, faster just means more death. |

Rather than high hp, I'd rather see a plug n' play philosophy in EV builds. The general public isn't aware of how much easier it is to modify and upgrade an electric powerplant vs combustion setups.

I have zero interest in anything electric.

When I drive my car, it's an experience for all senses. The smell of the exhaust and burnt rubber. The shake and acceleration force of the car. The blurred vision of speed. And the sound. Mmm... The sound of power and war. The pounding of the exhaust pulses in my chest and ear drums... You don't get that in electric...
The reality, to me, is this is the last generation I'll get to have all me sense assaulted by speed and power. That's fine. I got mine. I have no interest in electric, as much as they're being pushed on us.

If it can exist in the lineup along with a V8/manual setup then I'm all for it. Unfortunately it's the existance of said V8/manual that will be in question.

It would be awesome until you got to turn one and went through the tire barrier.

1000hp electric Camaro would probably be more of a straight line car. I'm not really interested in that. I bought mine for it's track durability. But even if this was a 1000hp built for the track that didn't overheat in a couple laps, and had the range to do a track day, the price on consumables, not to mention safety issues with a 1000hp car would keep me away.

I actually find it repulsive that there could even be an affordable car that would be capable of producing 1000 hp from the factory.
That's the kind of power that should be reserved for the $3m Bugatti Chiron. A quad turbo, W16 motor with all wheel drive. That is one reason I am so vehemently against electric cars. Electric motors are, by nature, full of instant torque and power. Been so since Nikola Tesla himself invented them. It's like cheating, taking the easy way out, and being lazy to simply put an electric motor in a car. "I have an electric motor, my $20,000 Civic is faster right from Honda than your highly modified GM Performance 503 crate motor. Neener neener neeeeeener" You all know that's coming. |

Nope. It isn't about horsepower or speed for me. I love that V8 rumble, there is no substitute.

Probably not. How much hp/tq at 1/2 charge, 1/4 charge? How long to fully charge it? What’s the range? How many years do the batteries last? Do they lose power as they age? How much do they weigh and how does accommodating them change the look of the car?

No, v8 sound , feel. Would only consider an electric car for a daily boring commuter.

Not sold on the EV idea. I love my SS. The only electric or Hybrid I ever considered was the Volt, and now they are gone. I think they were advertised just about as much as the Camaro. They should have just put the power plant in one of the smaller CUVs instead of killing it. They were ahead of the market on that setup.

If it had 550 miles of range, could recharge from empty to full in two minutes, had a manual shifter, and made the noise my ZL1 makes, and cost less than 85k sure. In other words, no.

I live 4 miles from work, and would like to have an EV for my daily commuter. This Hummer would be a badass DD. I just don't want my performance coupe to have anything but a V8, the only exception is the almost non-existent V6 NA Porsche(2015-2016 GTS,50th Anni 911, or highly pricey GT cars).
