Hey Provoste, what lug nuts you running with the Apex rims. I noticed the Apex rims have a smaller seat than OEM. I also like the open end ones you have in your pick that allow you to see the threads.

What spacers are people running. My 5mm from my BMW E36 fit, but the diameter is a little small.

I will be running Apex SM-10 18x10.5 with Toyo R888R at MSR Houston 6/3.

I figured you would have pulled the trigger on E85 and tune by now. It sure woke my car up from its little nap it was taking. Lol

I'm also running the MRR M716's 19x10.5 and 19x11, but with Supercar 3R in 305/30-19 front and back. Plenty of front strut clearance with the Moreno's full-in and the knuckles pulled back to -2.7° camber.

Here's my Mom doing her first-ever track weekend. She got to check this off her bucket list.

How is the wear on the Supercar 3Rs? How do you like the chamber plates? Are you saying you are maxing out at -2.7 camber with the plates???

Bad, just like everyone else is saying.

Camber, not chamber. They're a no-brainer if you know what they're for

No. With the plates and knuckles maxed out you'd be approaching demon camber. You can use this flexibility to increase tire-to-strut clearance.

Any reason Not to run 305 on the 10.5 and 325 on the 11 inch out back?

The main reason is you can’t rotate the back tires to the front for wear and longevity.

Chamber was courtesy of Auto correct. That was supposed to be camber of course. I was just asking how you liked them, since it is pretty clear what they are for.

Not sure what you mean by “demon camber”? I’m at -2.5 / -2.6 right now without plates and was looking to go to -2.9 or -3.0 for track use.

Well...That is the argument for a square set-up.Rotating.
Seems a little much to be pulling tires off wheels and swapping them around.

Looks great, let us know how they do on the track.
Is you car lowered?
Looks like less wheel gap than most.

Hontestly, I'm not sure of the brand. I get them from my shop. If you search M14x1.5 conical seat, you can find plenty of options online. I'm running a H&R 5mm spacers that are also for an e36, they work great.

Yeah, I would like to just do e85 with a tune, but am trying to keep the car fully under waranty for now. Maybe down the road...

Your car/wheels look awesome! Very cool re: your Mom doing a DE. I'll bet she was blown away.

Agreed, which is why I'm cool with a small front spacer to be able to run a true square setup.

That being said, lots of cars from the factory have run square tires on staggered wheels: 2018 Mustang GT PP2, 5th Gen Z28 to name a few. Running a square tire on staggered wheels still affords a wider rear track even though the tires are ths same size: meaning a 305 on a 11.0 wheel will measure wider than a 305 on a 10.5 wheel. It can be a good middle ground in looking for a bit more rear traction but not wanting to risk inducing additional understeer with a 325 rear.

Thought you guys might appreciate an update. I now have 7 days on track on the new setup and couldn’t be happier. The RS4’s have matched or beaten my times at Mid Ohio and Watkins Glen on RE71R’s (295/30 20” on OE SS 1LE wheels), and the wear is hard to believe. The tires look like they’re seen 1 day on track.

As for comparison to OE GS3 and RE71R- a tad more grip than the Goodyear’s, maybe a tad less than the RE71R. The RE71R might have a slight edge over the RS4 in a qualifying lap scenario- but the RS4 is the better track tire. The RE71R still reigns supreme as the best wet track tire I’ve ever driven, though the RS4 holds its own in the wet. They are more consistent than either over a 20 minute session, and the 305 with 10.5 square setup is just fantastic. Front to rear grip is wonderfully matched, and due to the et22 offset, the rears are pretty punched out, giving a wider rear track which aids stability as well.

Also, they’re a MUCH better road tire than the RE71R. They’re about as quiet as I remember the Goodyears, I drove to/from NCM last week for CamaroFest... great ride comfort, low NVH.

Here are a few pics of the tires currently. Again, this is after 7 days on track, maybe 750 street miles. I have rotated front to rear to even out wear. As you can see, ~70% tire left. I just wish Hankook made these in the OE sizes!

Wow! They look new - especially given your pace
Thx for the write up Provoste!

On a somewhat related note, i have finally taken my car out and did a 1:59.79 vs my PB of 1:59.65 in my old C5Z on BFG R1 shoes at Shannonville Long config in Ontario Canada. NBThis time would have won me a Time Attack competition for GT1 class (based on last yr's lap times).
Obviously stock tires arent better than R1 and neither is the driver's skill: just a testimony how easy this car is to push to go fast. Blown away again lol! Especially that it was damn hot there yesterday (34C). Id love to go square but since G3s are about $900+ per set here i am sticking with stockers.

Those RS4's sound good. I'm sure rotating a true square set helps the wear. It also helps that the RS4 start with 8.9/32 tread depth new. Compared to the SC3 with 7/32 and the 3R with only 5/32 according to the specs. I'm staying stock for now since I can get them at a low price. My original SC3 have 8 track days and 4000 miles on them and the rears are about to the wear bars with more life left on the fronts.
