In my experience, class action lawsuits never get you what you'll want.

If you want something significant, sue GM directly.

As for the lawfirm, I just hate the "We are doing it for you guys!" BS lines.

Dang, I'm in the group that another user mentioned of 2nd hand market. Bought mine used 1-owner at ~62,000 miles

Regardless of whether they produced a faulty part or not, they have known about this problem affecting multiple platforms for several years, long enough to correct the problem without attorneys having to get involved. They can find sympathy in the dictionary between shit and syphilis.

Though I don't agree with the last bit, it's not like they intentionally made a faulty part lol would have saved them a SHIT LOAD of money if they made them right the first time.
That's why they should feel pain. If they don't, they'll repeat it. People posted the fix (TCM programming) on forums, with data/evidence, how many years ago? But GM kept on selling it. I'm sure there's some financial analysis somewhere showing the costs for fixing it vs warranty "repairs" until the A10 is out.

GM should feel pain because it seems like there's a solid chance that they made the decision to continue to put out a flawed product. Are we to believe that a company like GM couldn't have come up with a REAL fix in.. 2016?

My 2018 2SS has been doing the A8 shudder since i had 5k miles on it. I have 6k on it now. I have been waiting for the new fix to come out since I don't drive it everyday before bringing it in. I figured why have a band-aid put on it and a year from now have it come back. I will have to make a call and see whats up. I can bring it to the dealer to have the shudder verified.

I hate seeing these types of posts but GM has shaken my confidence and value of them as a company not just with this but their whole value of Americans as customers. They play the whole "we're doing this as a financial decision" reasoning pitch then turn around and beg for government money for EVs while laying off American workers. Then here we are with what would appear to be another financial decision not to fix thousands of defective vehicles and hang the depreciation and cost on their customers. Geez.....

I do remember another scandal back in the 70s-80s with Ford over the Pinto. They were sued over the tanks blowing up and it was found that the company knew of the problem but found that it would be cheaper to pay the families who sued over injuries and loss of life than recall and fix the problem with the cars, so they did nothing. This certainly doesn't reach that level by any stretch but it certainly smells of the same logic. Very disappointing.

Just a line worker at Gm. I have talked to higher up engineers who have stated, that GM basically hires whichever person will do the job for the least money. Usually this means people just out of school with no real auto experience! So I could be wrong but I picture this person in charge of programming your auto transmission. That's why others have had great success tuning the problem out. GM guidelines for that tranny was probably mpg first and foremost. Then whatever performance is easy to achieve next. I do wish you luck with the law suit! The lawyers are the real big winners I do believe

This may very well work out great for the consumer, just be wary of the fact that the law firm is really watching out for their bottom line, not your concerns with the car. They typically recover a lot of money in legal fees, while often the consumer gets shafted. Be sure you can opt out any time before a settlement is reached.

Got unofficial word today that the magical fix coming out in Q1 is supposed to be some kind of more intense flush. I hope my source is wrong.

The problem I see for many is when the warranty is up if the problems return, you are SOL.

I will say though my girlfriend has a 2018 impala premier, which is a 6 speed, and it drives great (and super comfortable).
I am life long GM owner/buyer, have had tons of new GM vehicles. I am in no 100% happy with GM and what they are doing, some of their build quality, model decisions, etc., but GM over the past 10 years or so has really changed their build quality a lot. Can it be improved upon even more, hell yeah!...but the last few GM vehicles I had own and currently own have been pretty rock solid. I am too experiencing the A8 issues, had mine in 3 times, first to reprogram the TCM 2 years ago, another time for the transmission lines recall, and the 3rd last year to have my A8 rebuilt because it literally crapped out!...other than that (which is huge issue), my SS has been very reliable. My current 2018 Equinox has been rock solid, my SRX that I sold last year was rock solid for 6 years, few minor warranty issues (Window motor replacement, rear camera cracked and replaced, not to mention the crappy Michelins that kept wearing down at 30K miles, but that was/is a known Michelin tire issue).

BTW, see you are in Pittsburgh, go Pens! Was just up there for a game at PPG Paints last month, try to go up a few times a year for games. Was there for game 1 of the Cup Final in 2017!
