Corsa X-Pipe now Available for Full Corsa Cat-backs or stock Suitcase
Corsa has released an X Pipe and full Cat-back Kits. Solving the issue of cutting the factory exhaust and having to run X Pipes that are either custom made or from Borla etc. The New Corsa X Pipe is 3" but necks to 2.75" so it can seamlessly connect to either a Corsa Axle Back or the Stock NPP Suitcase without issue.
I currently run a Corsa 14784 Axle Back and a Borla 60606 X Pipe, which I have a massive thread on here. This new full Corsa setup will be the best exhaust setup for the ZL1 IMO. High quality, no cutting, no drone, control with your foot, and amazing sounding in all situations. Here's the link to 2017+ ZL1 products. More Info: Ok let's get this straight... Adding the X Pipe to a Corsa Axle Back rated "Sport" changes the sound rating to "Xtreme". Adding an X Pipe to a Corsa Axle Back rated "Xtreme" changes the sound rating to "Xtreme+". 14788 = X Pipe. 3" Double Helix X Pipe that necks to 2.75" to connect to the axle backs. It's $817. 14770 = Xtreme+ Cat-Back. 3" Double Helix X Pipe that necks down to 2.75" AND 2.75" Xtreme sound level quad-tip Axle Back. It's $2077. 14772 = Xtreme Cat-Back. 3" Double Helix X Pipe that necks down to 2.75" AND 2.75" Sport sound level quad-tip Axle Back. It's $2267. Ignore the 14773 and 14771. They're also Xtreme and Xtreme+ cat-backs but they're DUAL TIP, which you do not want. I'm not sure how that'll fit in the ZL1's diffuser. More than likely these are for SS-non quad tip cars. Or perhaps it's engineered to fit, you'll want to contact Corsa on that. More breakdown... There's only ONE X-Pipe. The 14788. It's the Same X Pipe in every cat-back and available alone for $817. There's only TWO Quad Tip Axle Backs. The Sport and Xtreme. There's only TWO Dual Tip Axle Backs. The Sport and Xtreme. There's only FOUR Cat-backs which are ALL FOUR Axle Back Options (2 quads, 2 duals) each combined with the 14788 X Pipe. The two axle backs you want are 14770 and 14772, the quad tip options. 14788 X Pipe = 14788 X Pipe Only 14772 Xtreme Cat-Back = 14788 X Pipe + Sport Quad Tip Axle Back 14770 Xtreme+ Cat-Back = 14788 X Pipe + Xtreme Quad Tip Axle Back This should make it clearer. By the way this isn't off the wall. This is what they do with the C7 Z06 too. 2 Axle backs, 1 X pipe, combination of the two results in Xtreme or Xtreme+. Again, adding an X Pipe to a Sport sound level changes the sound rating to Xtreme. Adding an X Pipe to an Xtreme axle back changes the sound rating to Xtreme+. Shown here: Sport = Sport Axle Back Only Xtreme = Xtreme Axle Back by itself OR Sport Axle Back + X Pipe (Xtreme Cat-back) - 14772 Xtreme+ = Xtreme Axle Back + X Pipe (Xtreme+ Axle Back)- 14770 Sport + X Pipe = Xtreme Xtreme + X pipe = Xtreme+ TL;DR - If you have a ZL1, get the 14770 or 14772. The 72 is going to be a touch more tame, quieter. The 70 is going to be the loudest option. Last edited by Can'tHave2MuchHP; 08-10-2018 at 07:30 PM. |

Nice.
What is the difference between Part# 14772 and 14770? One says +sound level and the other does not.

Sorian is expecting a 10-15 hp gain so. Easy trade off for me. 5lbs is still 5lbs. Not sure if I can deal with the extra loudness tho. haha.

Are you running Headers to stock mid pipe (I know you have a Corsa Axle Back)? You may not be able to use the Corsa X as it might not attach to the longer LT Headers properly...Run it by Matt but my guess is an X pipe from your Header maker is the way to go. Both Kooks and ARH make them and I think you run one of those two?

It’s has to be more than 5. I’m very sure. No way that suitcase is that light already.

This is the set-up I'll be going with for by SS 1LE. I LOVE Corsa, had them on both my C5 and C6 Z06.

Yea, I'm running Kooks to stock mid pipe to Corsa Axle Back. I'm not sure I want the loudness tho so. But, am glad they have one just in case I go with one down the road. That $700 covers the cost of new pistons.

Honestly though, axle backs (Mufflers) don't offer any power worth speaking of. If you want it quieter, you should get the Kooks X Pipe which will run all the way to the back near the diff, and then put the stock Suitcase muffler back on which will give you exhaust modes. Food for thought, but either way, you should get the Kooks X Pipe to get rid of the factory X pipe mess. Your choice on running Corsa or stock NPP suitcase. And LOL $700, since when do you care about spending money on your cars? Lol, just kidding, haha. Axle backs are for adjusting the sound quality and tone, not HP. X pipes and Headers effect HP and sound level. |
