So the engine is out. Awaiting some factory rod bolts to come in - but currently here's some progress pics...

We're going to start replacing pistons and doing the cam kit this week, as well as installing the upgraded HX kit, then this weekend I have plans so no progress there.

Weekend of 7/7 I'll be trying to put the shortblock back in.

The following weekend I'll try and get the heads+blower on and get it all buttoned up - and then a tune. Realistically I expect this to take 2 weekends.

Wow - it's been a wild 2 months...

So the wife was injured (dislocated shoulder) when we were rear-ended, she went back to work light duty about 1-2 weeks before the last time I posted - and then she had her good arm on a door at work, that a co-worker decided to kick from the other side, dislocating her good shoulder (WTF?!)

She's out of work dealing with L&I - and in the meantime we were...
-Having her family visit for a week
-In the process of looking for a new house
-Moving etc

As such I parted out the SC build and took money to float us...
I just got back into purchasing some parts to get the car together. Should be running in 2-3 weeks... Hopefully I can make the last track day at PIR in Sept.

New build...
-Stock shortblock (potentially with fly cut pistons)
-Stock heads, milled .030
-Cometic .040 gaskets
-Pray Perf custom cam
-Pray Perf ported MSD + ported ZR1 TB
-RF Dry
-OBX LT headers + X-Pipe catless (sold the Kooks in the fire sale)
-Flex fuel kit
-160* T-stat
-Catch can

Swapped my awesome wheels for a set of black chrome Z28 Reps and the OEM Supercar3 tires

Shooting for low-to-mid 500s and will re-asses tire needs later

Damn! That most definitely sucks both for your wife and for your mod budget. Hopefully both will make a speedy recovery.
The next phase of my build will involve pulling the motor to install a cam kit and pistons/rods. I was wondering, since you're a M6 guy, if you have any tips for removing the engine. Your shop looks a lot like mine and I'm sorry, I don't mean that as a compliment! Like you, I'll be working off of jack stands. Did you have to drop the trans? Others have posted that the pan prevents you from being able to pull the engine forward enough to separate from the transmission. Thanks in advance for any tips.

Hope your wife gets better and things settle down for you and your family. The car build still looks fantastic and i'm looking forward to more pictures as you get into it more.

It isn't my garage actually, it's a buddy's. I was moving during all this so we used his place.
We didn't pull the trans. Just pulled the accessories and the heads first, then gently moved forward then up and forward and up (repeat) and it came out fairly easily.
If I recall right, we jacked up the oil pan a bit and let the front jack stands down as far as they would go before we started using the hoist - HTH.

Hopefully soon. Everything is ordered.
We just had her family visit and then moved so that delayed things a bit - she'll be back to work next week. I'm hoping to have the car ready for PIR on 9/30

Looks like the cam kit should arrive wed.
Lindy flycutting tool should be shipped shortly and the MSD/ZR1 combo should ship out Friday/Monday

Some progress! Looks like I'll miss the 9/30 track day but there are some others in Oct

We started pulling it apart and got the cam out, new cam goes in today/tomorrow

Picking up the heads from the machine shop tomorrow, will begin dropping it back into the car probably this coming week - it's easiest to bolt the heads on in the car for clearance to get the short block back in so that'll be next. Hoping to do a track day in October with it once tuned

My buddy's wife tore her ACL and MCL in one small accident so he's been out of commission - we both gave up getting the car ready for fall, and are now working for spring. That said, we did make a little progress and hope to make a lot more soon.

Some minor updates - fly cut the pistons, once this is all done we can work on putting the engine back in the car.

Hoping to at least have it in the engine bay by end of weekend and then start connecting things

Lifters installed in trays and trays bolted in
Heads installed and torqued.

Going back in the garage Sunday to do the final prep and get the thing on the engine hoist, and start to drop it in if I have time
