New member from Ames

hello all,

New member; just bought a 14 ZL1, black, 6sp 1900 miles. Bought in Ankeny, supposed to be one owner, anyone here?

Looking forward to getting involved in some local events, any car shows, get togethers, etc?

Thanks,

Mike

Another question, I am new to Iowa, and the fact they require a front plate. I see from some of your pics, that a few of you do not have a front plate on your car.

Are the cops bad a ticketing if you don't have the front plate on? Generally ok not to put on?

Any advice would be helpful, as my car does not currently have it on, and would like to keep it that way if possible.

Thanks

Mike

Mike,
Get the retractable or removable plate so you don't have to drill into the front bumper. Get from JDPmotorsports.com or Phastek.com. Mine works like a charm, I can't remember where I got it though. Several options out there for you to choose from. Hope to see you at Karl's Performance for his first cars & coffee this saturday morning.

Bill

I run without a front plate. I got it on a jacfab frame so that when i do get pulled over i just say oops i took it off for a car show. I have been pulled over twice last year but one guy said he wanted to get a closer look of my car never ticketed tho.

Its a drive in car show more or less, Karls Performance shop is hosting it, they have coffee and donuts, and people come by to check out the shop as well as see what other people drive in with.

I have not been there before, so will probably go Saturday morning to check it out, hopefully meet some people.

I've been pulled over too many times without one on previous car. Had them out it on so I didn't have to mess with it

Went by Karl's performance today for the cars and coffee. I don't know the history behind this shop, as I am new to the area, but from my perspective, was very impressed with the shop. They had many cars inside that they seemed to be working on, from a twin turbo 5th gen camaro, to a Porsche GT3 and several vetts, and many others.

Don't know how there work is or service, but the shop was sure nice.

Anyone interested in trading a set of V6 rear brakes for Brembos? I am looking to get more into drag racing and so I am willing to do a straight trade of my rear brembo calipers, pads, rotors, and lines with someone that has calipers, rotors, pads, and lines for a V6. I am located in cedar falls, would be willing to drive a little. Also I can do the actual hard part swap in cedar falls if anyone does not have the tools or know how.

Anybody that is interested there will be a cruise tomorrow Sunday April 17th. It's starting off at Lindale Mall and I think it will be leaving at 1230pm. I was looking at the route someone made on google and its roughly 80 miles. There will be stops at some locations for food. Everyone is welcomed to come out and its not limited to Camaros only. Last I saw there is about 60 people attending and a little over 100 interested.

Has anyone ever dealt with Sublime Speed Technology in Omaha, NE? They have a dyno and have some pretty impressive cars on there facebook page.

Sir,
Good to hear your interested in straight track Most cars would nit need the V6 brakes. Stock can get you down to 17" rims which is plenty to get you into the low tens, depending on launch torque.
if you were a manual or high stall, with 390/410 gears, or a PD blower - then more reasonable- but still not absolutely necessary.
Its more about driver mod and proper tune.

See you out there.

The Kansas City Camaro Club is again planning a cruise to Camaro's Steakhouse in Bethany Missouri on May 14th. I have already made other plans that day so I won't be going or planning the cruise from the Des Moines area.
