We don't have to worry about front plates in Kansas. But, regarding tinting the plates I know Cops across country that hate them. The purpose is to use tint on the plates are to avoid Red Light Cams, Toll Cams, Speed Camera, etc.
I know many cops in Kansas City go by the rule of getting out of the car. If they have to get out of the cop car to read the plates they will issue a ticket for not have legible plates. Some Cop cars use scanners. Again here in KC the car will scan the plates and pull the information right on to the computer. If the computer can not read the plates they will light up, thinking you have something to hide using the "not have legible plates" as the excuse to pull you over. Depending on where you are at. For me I don't have to worry about front plates, I have nothing to hide so I will not be tinting my rear plates. But yet again I only hot rod on the track and I DD my car everyday! Do what you want If it were up to my I would cable tie until I could order the Sho-in Sto Plates. |

Minnesota requires... I'll put them on... It does look better without, but I just don't want the hassle... plus, I'm proud of what I do, so the EMS plates will look good!

My problem is that I live in a non front plate state Kansas, but will probably be moving to Missouri this year. A state that does require a front one.

If you still have family and what not in KS, just use their address for the DMW and keep no license plate up front haha.

KS 5-0 love to harass people for tint on the plates or plate covers that dim. I've never had an issue because I don't do either, but my Dad's been a cop for over 20 years so I've heard this is the kind of crap traffic cops love to cite for. I am however fully preparing to get several stops for window tint checks. I'll put on the legal 35% we have here, but with nearly all black interior I already know it's going to look too dark, and this is another thing they love to stop people for.

IN the excitement and rush for the new car I forgot to stop them from putting on the front tag, so it's on there. I never put it on my 2010 and never was pulled over for it.

Well, the one advantage these cars have if you get a bracket they don't have to drill the bumper...

I plan to skip it and risk the tickets. The only time I've received tickets is from meter maids when parked downtown. Sucks to come out to a ticket when you've paid the meter. The fines weren't terribly expensive so I just pay them.

I'm in TX. I think I'm just gonna get the black background plates, drill holes in the background part for cooling and zip tie it to the grill.
Sucks. I think it's a stupid law, but I don't want the hassle either. At least with the black background it won't be such an eyesore and I don't have to drill my front bumper, which I refuse to do. Might actually look kind of cool, all you will be able to see from a distance is the white lettering on the plate. |
