I plan on not having it in the front and risking the ticket. Seems like many people on this forum rarely ever get called on it if their state requires it. Of course if I get pulled over more than once in a short amount of time then maybe I will have to install them. So many cars here in Southern California. I would hope that front plates are the least of their worries.

Throw it in the windshield, I saw someone using suction cups to put theirs up at the top of the window. I've been driving without one forever, just depends on the officer, I'll prolly give them crap about it if I get pulled over Cuz it's really not hurting anyone. Well, except the cops ability to run plates for no reason.

I'm in Califonia where it's required but I really don't care. There will be no front plate on my car.

Utah is a front plate state but I don't know anyone that's ever been pulled over for it. Don't actually even know if it's a primary offense.
I keep my plate and kit in the trunk, just in case. Easily 2/3 of all cars you see driving around here don't have them and the dealer does not mount it. |

Not required in AZ fortunately but they were required where I grew up (Hawaii). I didn't run one on my IROC and the only time I ever got a ticket for it was along with an "exhibition of speed" ticket for burning out in a parking lot when I was 18 but I had it coming that time. Oh to be young and dumb again! I did get a few other tickets in it in HI but the officers didn't even look at the front of the car when they pulled me over to see if I had a plate on it or not. I say keep it off as long as possible.

Pay the fines! I have almost never run a front plate on ANY of my cars and I have had 2 front plate tickets in 18 years of driving. I suppose if you are riding dirty or something and can't chance the random traffic stop, it might be worth rocking one but I despise them and just take my chances....

just don't leave the plates off if you get caught multiple times; they can then charge you for failure to comply, and that's 1 point on your license for sure.
a buddy of mine got busted a second time and got that failure to comply violation. they told him that the 3rd time they could arrest him. the CHP around here doesn't f--k around. the risk is your to take tho. and they may not be as harsh where you live. |

I've never been ticketed or stopped the 2 years owning my Camaro. I've never had a front plate. MA requires a front plate.
I've been pulled over 3 times for speeding. Verbal warning each time. No tickets for anything. Just keep it off until you get a ticket... seriously. Ask the officer if he will shred the ticket in front of you if you put it on the front of your car then and there (keep the front plate with you for this reason!) I pass at least 5 officers on my commute every day. I wave. They nod. The cycle continues. No front plate vote for me.

It really does depend on where you drive and how they enforce the law. I got pulled over Christmas weekend NW of FT Worth for having a tinted cover on my front plate and a clear cover on my back plate. I put those cover plates on when I bought my truck in 2006 and never was an issue for the past ten years. LOL. Cop said he could use those covers or lack of a front plate to pull me over anytime he wants. Serving and protecting I guess. I've been pondering myself what to do when I get my SS, I really don't like interacting with LEO's but the front looks so much better plate free.
