That toilet seat story is pretty funny too.... it may or may not have happened (or he may have embellished a little), but the Galaxie story definitely did.

A few years ago Jay actually bought himself the very same Galaxie 7 litre that he had ordered for his Dad for sentimental purposes a couple years ago. Unfortunately he wrecked the original one his Dad bought so he had to find this one in Canada:

It's true that every Corvette logo has had the Chevy bowtie embedded into one of the flags, but the bowtie itself has never appeared on the Corvette as a stand alone logo.

If Chevy were smart they would bring back the flags on the Camaro, then again if they were smart they would advertise the Camaro.

If Chevy were smart they'd not only advertise the heck out of the Camaro but they would have NEVER quit building the Cruze or Impala.... USA Today and a few other outlets have been running stories as to how much market share GM and Ford have lost to Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai/Kia because they quit building family sedans in lieu of SUV's, conceding the entire market to Japan and Korea.

But of course GM and Ford have "market data" showing family sedans are dead.

Meanwhile Honda is still cranking out Accords (with available manual transmissions too) and Toyota ain't stoppin the Camry (they just added a TRD V6 sport package when everyone is saying the V6 is dead).

Lol... Car dealers often choose salespeople specifically because they know nothing about cars, it's often an advantage.

Most buyers don't want salespeople to tell them facts about the car they are interested in, they want the salesperson to tell them they have great taste in cars. The fact is, honest salespeople that will give their customer a balanced, unbiased perspective on any of their choices will be a total failure. This is at the core of why dealers are often seen as dishonest, and often the less the salesperson knows about what they are selling, the better.

Salespeople that are clueless also come across as less adversarial when the manager sends them back with a ridiculously bad deal for the customer.

The best car salespeople are rarely actually car guys/girls. Selling cars is unlike selling most things.

I may be one of the few on this site, but I am not a fan of the way it looks. I'd rather have a C7 over that, looks wise. The front makes me think of a mantis and the rear looks too long (I know the engine is back there, doesn't mean I like the way it looks). Just my opinion though. Not hating, just not a fan.

So in other words no dealer would hire most of us on this forum

You’re right though..... can you imagine Yugo salesmen if they knew about cars and were honest with their customers?

When it comes to business, business models or anything business really, it all comes down to the bottom line and $$$.

You strip away the BS of any industry or business model and it all comes back to that. Ethics and being honest always take a back seat to profits.

Just a life lesson and something to keep in the back of your mind and come back to when you are looking at motivators and all the gimmicks.

To coin a phrase from Casino... "This is the end result of all the bright lights, all the comp. trips, all the booze, all the broads, it's all been arraigned just to get your money"

That’s why - and I know this will never happen - I’m for the complete abolishment of all dealerships. They really don’t add any value to your car. I have no problem paying the engineers, designers, and the folks on the assembly lines who all actually do REAL work in the massive and complex process a bringing a car from paper to your driveway. They either work hard using complex math, science, and physics in design and engineering or apply some sort of skill in assembly. All of whom honestly earn what they make.

Salesmen walk in off the street and are paid to lie, cheat, and make buying a car far more complicated than it needs to be, at a job that really in all honesty requires barely a high school diploma.

The dealership model and franchise laws serve no purpose or value. They are simply middlemen.

I think they look pretty cool from what I can tell in photos or that video.

I hated the C7 when it came out and it's just now starting to look OK to me and only in certain colors - white looks bad to me on the C7, darker colors look better, maybe red or orange, not so much yellow. I still think the C6-Z06 is the best looking modern Corvette. And honestly a 94-95 C4 Z-R1 is a close second - for me anyway. Everybody comes at this one differently!

Hardly overpriced. Just watch the car appreciate in value over the next coming years.

This ^ a couple have already gone to auction when the no sell waiver expires. Some have fetched double and triple the original 500K price tag

With the Corvette and the new GT 500 getting the biggest media raves I have seen in 10 years. I can now understand why Chevy let the rumor about camaro's demise. The GT 500 and the corvette both sold out there 2020 scheduled allotment. The money it would take to compete with a car that is struggling for sales makes no sense. And I am not even talking about the current sales leader the Challenger.
