OEM Diffuser Inquiry.

Hey y’all,

Since I’m keeping my RS. I’m planning to get a Borla SType quad tip system for my car. Problem, I can’t find an OEM diffuser ANYWHERE. Seems to be on back order.

I thought about the Ikon Motorsport version, although, I’m seeing reviews saying much about panel gaps. Thus looking OEM.

If anyone has pointers, that would be amazing!

From my "de-fresh" experience, any LS, LT, or SS diffuser should work - so maybe that opens up parts availability a bit? When I swapped the '16-18 rear bumper onto my RS, I was still able to use the '21 quad-tip diffuser.

My SS originally had dual exhaust so when I decided to go to quad tips I just bought a used diffuser off Ebay. I repainted it and installed some smoked reflectors. I think it was 60-80 dollars.

I never got any notification from this thread, lol. Your refresh story was awesome to see! Did you notice any fitment issues with the NPP? The one from the refresh with the vents on the left/right?

I ask because there’s a guy in town that commented on my FB post that giving his away cheap, it’s an SS but it’s the refresh design. I’ll just need to get it painted.

I’ve been searching! Unfortunately many won’t ship or are busted up.

I have this relatively cheap one: _____________/shop/chevy/chevycamaro/6thgencamaro/exterior-parts/diffusers-6thgencamaro/glossy-quad-tip-diffuser-16-19-camaro/

(substitute underscores with next gen speed dot com, no spaces of course)

Made by Ikon and no gaps whatsoever. Installation is nontrivial but not super difficult either. I will say that the diffuser needs to be located and clipped in very precisely to achieve the best fitment, but the part itself is good quality, including the paint job as well.

Idk how I didn’t see this, but I’ll take your word!

It’s really hard to find an OEM one that isn’t 500 bucks lol.

Couldn’t find an OEM diffuser so I ordered Ikons and the Borla S Type system

Also ordered a high wing spoiler from GM but on back order.

Impressed with the paint quality from Ikon for 145 bucks. Still unknown about the fins.

I have the same (or a very-very similar) thing, it looks fantastic installed, see my post above. The fins are fine and won't wobble or break, in case that's what you were concerned about.

Be careful and take your time with the claw clips as well as the side-to-side alignment, you may need to tweak it for a while to get a perfect, no gaps look. Don't even try to install this diffuser with the rear bumper left in place, no matter what youtube says.

Oh, and one more thing, be EXTRA careful when pulling off the center section of the bumper, just below the trunk latch there is a very flimsily attached plastic piece that slides into an all-metal "clamp", and if you pull too hard, the plastic will detach. Try to work it free with a trim tool or careful maneuvering. Don't ask me how I know

Sorry, missed your reply as well! I just saw you went with an aftermarket option, but in case someone has the same question, that 19+ refresh diffuser from my RS fit just fine on the '16-18 rear bumper cover.

Lovely! This shall be fun then, I’m waiting for the clear reflectors from Phastek and then I can get to installing!

I hope the s type sounds just right, not too loud and rice.

Wasn’t cheap hahaha

Just a thought. I replaced mine at the same time I did my axleback. Once the old exhaust was off I actually installed the diffuser WITHOUT having to remove the bumper. It was somewhat of a pain but completely doable without the exhaust in the way!

Post some pics once you're done!
