GM Cold Air Box fits all four 2018 engines?

Greetings,

I’m considering buying the GM cold air box (P/N 84531831) for my 2018 ZL1. The chart shows it compatible for the LS, LT, SS and ZL1 or all four engine types as offered in 2018. I’m thinking this has to be wrong. Does anyone know if this item will work properly on my ZL1?

Here’s the link:

https://www.gmpartsstore.com/oem-par...yABEgJQOvD_BwE

Thanks

I thought the GM performance intake didn't work on the ZL1?

No it doesn’t work on the ZL1! It works on the SS LT1! If you are considering a CAI then go with RotoFab or Cold Air Inductions closed CF intake or others!

Does not fit ZL1. The GM branded ZL1 CAI was never released to the public.

It says it fits now. The GM one used to make no mention of the ZL1. Now it does. It also looks to be the 4th generation of the CAI as it lists 3 other part numbers that it replaces. I could be wrong, but I am almost certain the older GM CAI was a completely enclosed box like Cold Air Inductions, but this GM setup is open on one or 2 sides from the looks of it. Did GM sneak in an updated system for our cars?

So, I just looked up this one: https://www.thatgmpartsguy.com/oem-p...bC12OC1nYXM%3D

And it does list the ZL1 as being compatible.

Funny, I put in "2019" for the MY and then it says not compatible. I'm sure it is though.

Hmmmmm...... We only have one little tube that connects to the 4inch big tube. Other than ZL1 has 2 little tubes.
I think the ZL1 is a typo.

If you use the very first link from the OP, it lists a different part number, and it says it will fit a 2019.

Huh, I just looked it up on the official Chevy site and no mention of that part number or one for the ZL1s.

DOES. NOT. FIT.

Notice that those "GM online parts sellers" all show it fitting all 4 engines? It doesn't do that either. Those dealers with those online pages don't always get it right, that's for sure.

There are only TWO GM cold air intakes. One for the 3.6, the other the LT1 for SS and SS 1LE.

84651227 is the LT1 for SS and SS 1LE, 2016-2020.

84242613 for 3.6 V6, 2016-2017.

The ones on Chevrolet's official website are the only ones made at the moment. https://www.chevrolet.com/performanc...6camaro/intake
