For the experienced buyers, when’s the best time to buy?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I saw a “pricing” sub forum but the activity looked low there.
I’m new to the car buying world, especially from a dealership. With the 2019 coming out soon (I’m assuming, really have no clue when it’s coming out), I’m assuming it’s gonna start to be a now or never for new 2018 models. Looking now even it seems hard to find 2SS’s within 500 miles of me in the color/options I want. And there really only seems to be 2 camaros in the whole country that hit every nail on the head. Just curious if there will be discounts/incentives etc around the next coming months that’ll give me the best bang for my buck. |

EOM (End of Month) and EOY (End of Year) are the times dealers have motivation to discount. The best factory rebate is a 20% Bonus Tag but those aren't as common as they used to be as demand has spiked.
I got 30% off Monroney (MSRP) in December 2016 (Bonus Tag unit) |

Actually its:
End of month-good End of quarter-better End of year - best All dealers have a $ goal at the end of the month, then a larger $ bogie for the quarter, and then the largest bogie for the year. This works best when you're in a major metro area and the dealer is large. |

When? The day after Christmas where a dealer is close to his goal. You can get that shit for free.

Best time to buy any rear wheel drive sports car is November/December from a dealership located where it snows in the winter. You likely won't have much luck or see prices fluctuate in PHX but come to the midwest around Thanksgiving when dealers want to get those off the lot before they have to pay to keep them around for 3-4 months. You'll get a deal, especially on a lightly used model.

If you want to be picky then choose something now or hope for the best later.

Depends on if you want what you want or what’s leftover. I got what I wanted a month ago, but supply is dwindling and you will sacrifice desires, but make it up on price from here on out the closer you get to year’s end if you’re savvy. IMO.

Last day of the month (for a car on the lot that hasn't been there long, so the dealer's costs are low), when dealers are trying to meet the manufacturers' goals for the next month's allocations - especially for popular or limited-production models. Add in expiring rebates and factory incentives then, and you can work a discount of $7-$8K. It's a fallacy that cars that have been sitting for several months may be the cheapest (unless the manufacturer comes up with special incentives for the dealers), because many dealers add their floor plan, carrying costs or interest payments to the selling prices of those cars. And if you watch the incentives and rebates carefully, you'll find that the end of the model year isn't always the best time to buy a car. A couple of years ago, for example, the lowest prices of the year for Mustangs were at New Year's; this year, so far it seems like Memorial Day was peak discount time for Chevrolet.

Yep end of the month. Walk in on the 28th or 29th to give yourself time work out a deal with a low ball offer. Salesman need to meet there month end quota and some will do it even if it means just breaking even.

The best way to buy a car, in my experience, is from the same dealer as before, and order exactly what you want from the factory, so no regrets later.
Also, if you already have a daily driver, make sure the dealer knows you want the Camaro but don't NEED the Camaro. Make an itemized list of the configuration you want and make a reasonable offer. Get the "out the door" price in writing and don't buy dealer add-ons, especially NOT gap insurance, which, if you feel you need it, can be added to your collision insurance for a fraction of what the dealer will offer. |
