Are these rims heavy?

Friends,

Just traded in a 2014 2LS (323 hp) for 2015 2SS (400 hp). Trying to get more and more info on this car ....

I'm adding a photo of my rims here (i think they're stock but not sure). I actually feel these rims causing my beast to decelerate fast, especially <50 mph.

One grasp at the spokes and i know the rims are darn heavy... is it true?

Does anyone know of lighter options?

They weigh around 32lb each, give or take.

There are plenty of wheel options that are lighter than OEM. OEM wheels on most mass-produced cars are made from cast aluminum. Cast is relatively cheap, strong, and they meet federal crash standards. The big disadvantage of cast wheels is they typically weigh a lot. Some rare factory cars come with forged aluminum wheels. The ZL1 and Z/28 have forged wheels from the factory. Forged wheels are strong and very lightweight but they cost MUCH more than cast.
There are many forged aluminum wheel options available but be prepared to bring the $$$.

Congratulations on the new ride!

You went from a V6 geared to get 30MPG to a romp-em, stomp-em V8 geared to go fast, stop fast, and corner better than most.

Yes, there is more drag but it is more than the wheels. You have some wide tires, a bit more weight, more drive-line loss from heavier components...

Make sure your tires are 36psi cold. Cars are sometimes delivered with less pressure.

I don't know everything that determines how far a car will coast but I can tell you that in my experience, more weight gets you to coast farther with less decel. My Ram SRT had a curb weight of 5200lb with way heavier rims and I could coast twice as long as I can in the camaro. Camaro coasts noticeably less.

I used to maintain 38 psi on my older 2LS; assumed that would be the right measure on the 2SS too. Maybe i'm wrong what's the recommended for better handling?

In case you know, what's a good website to find used rims for my 2015 2SS?

Depends on who you talk to, everybody's "recommendation" is different. Ive always ran 32 in the front and 30 in the rear cold.
