Camaro sales were hurting and GM let the bean counters back into the design lab, and this is what we get. They should have directed the bean counters to the marketing dept. instead. 6th gen Camaro is light years above the 5th gen in terms of performance engineering, that's why it cost more. How about some commercials showing Camaro tearing up some roads like Dodge does every commercial break. Heck I'd show clips from the ZL1 1LE Ring lap with time beating much more expensive cars. Even if that is a small segment product, it still shows off Chevy performance.

IMHO, the 6th Gen has been a disaster from the word "go".
-simply an evolution of the 5th Gen (aesthetically), instead of a brand new design
-ungodly price increases
-a '19 refresh that has everyone wanting to dump Clorox into their eyes
-etc., etc., etc..

Let's just forget this ever happened. Fair enough?

John Mack needs to go look at some 1st Gen Camaro's. Nothing on that refresh resembles the 1st Gen.

Don't get me wrong, I love the design of the 5th gen, my favorite is the 1st gen, esp. 68, someday I'll have one. But the price increase is hard to understand, not many people get quality at 1st. I had a 2014 V6 and loved it until a deer jumped in front of me, I was lucky to get into a 2016 1SS and love it. My Dad has 2 5th gens, 1 is procharged, that is fun, but the handling is not as good as 6th gen alpha chassis. I haven't driven a 5th gen 1LE, probably a lot better, but what did those cost new? I think the Chevy designs are slipping again. I don't like the new Silverado either, looks like a Tundra. Come on Chevy be original and advertise yourself!

I think this has been the major problem. To most consumers the Camaro design is over a decade old because the styling hasn't changed much. Factor in the prices increase for an "old" design, and you won't find as many new buyers. So I do applaud them for trying to change direction, but they need to try again.

But, somehow the Challenger has pulled it off. After 10 years on the market with a late 90's chassis they are increasing sales. So who knows for sure.

Mustang boards are going nuts thinking this will kill the Camaro again.

The Challenger is increasing in sales because both Ford and GM have increased the amount of "ugly" in their respective pony car.

For the 7th Gen, GM needs to toss the 5th Gen styling completely and create a new and drastic design. The Camaro needs a boost. It's been lagging ever since the refresh in '14.

Mustang guys would be stupid to want the Camaro dead. The Mustang is better now than it was before the Camaro came back. They may not like losing to Camaro's but the competition has made both better.

Agree w complete new design for 7th gen, I probably won't be a buyer but it'll need some more futuristic design & drop another 300 lbs.

Something like this:

I disagree.

Ford developed cars like the GT500 and BOSS 302 without the Camaro. GM bases its development off the competition. Other manufacturers build what they want.

That might be a stretch. I'd be happy with a 100-150 lbs drop
