2017 Convertible top not going down

Hey Guys.
Brought in an engineer to solve mystery on rear cargo shade.
This shade has to be in place to have the top go down..yes we know.
HOWEVER, in the upper right hand corner, Chevrolet placed a fob !
YUP.
You can cut a corner piece out leaving in the plastic grommet which holds the shade and when the piece is in place the top works just fine.
Obviously, don't put objects too tall under the top when it comes down,
as that's why the shade was developed in the first place.
Hope this helps!

Could you please post some pics of the fob, when you say fob are you saying that GM placed a remote like the ones we use to open and close our doors?

This makes zero sense. We need either a better explanation or pics. You can also send me plane ticket to Maui and I can go check it out.

"Fob" is a misnomer.

The luggage panel in the trunk of all verts that separates the rear-most trunk space from the space that the top requires when folding down. It snaps into place using four posts. That flap must be in place for the top to operate.

There's a magnet/sensor gizmo on the top right-hand post that senses the presence of the flap (bottom picture shows the harness wire coming from the bottom of the housing), which also has a magnet/sender built into the fabric of the flap. This is how the car knows.

So yes it's possible to fool the car by cutting off the corner of the flap.

In fact the recall on the divider was to replace it with a reinforced (stiffer) right top corner so the magnet stays in contact with the sensor. The originals would get a little floppy and fall out of contact with the sensor.
