It is my understanding that lemon law applies to the vehicle under warranty, not the owner (IN CA). I would ask a lawyer who specializes in the law though, as they differ from state to state.

Now if you experience other symptoms which the OP has been kind enough to share with us, like the car flat out not starting, you've got a problem.

I think it has something to do with the starter in our cars, possibly becoming heat soaked, or not wanting to crank on an incline.

Happens to me too but it always starts. Do you need to have this addressed if it still starts? Only happens once in a while.

Yea it's gotta be the starter getting too hot. Mine does it too on hot days. Kind of embarrassing having this nice looking car and then people look at u like u got a weak battery. Sucks. I demand a recall and for GM to install heat shields on all starters!!

So the crank and bearings that the OP had replaced were because his car wouldn't turn over? Sorry I'm a little confused about how to tell what's causing the problem and what if anything we should do.

My car had the typical slow start a lot. But then it began not starting. One day it didn't start and it clicked and the starter smoked. I had it towed. Repeated this 3 times. Then they found the crank walk issue, so they replaced it and said bearings. Also replaced the starter with it. Im not sure this is everyone issue, but in my case it was. Others have had starters replaced or wires in the truck and their issues solved I believe.

Gotcha thanks for the explanation. I think I'm probably fine.

I wonder if the heat soaked Starter issue could be remedied by covering the starter itself in heat reflective tape. Its pretty easy to get to if you're under the car. The issue can be hard for the dealer to replicate, and I wouldn't want them driving my car hard lol.

EDIT: Just ordered a thermo shield for the starter, gonna install it asap and report back here.

Cool thanks. I think the only time I've ever had it happen is when I hit the gas station or make a quick trip to a store, etc...any time I start the car up again fairly soon. Usually within 0-10mins of downtime in between starts if that helps anyone. I always thought it was due to the battery and my electronics. I'm glad you guys figured this out or are close to it

I experienced the slow to start/no start issue as well. I did a few good pulls on the turnpike before stopping to buy gas and boom no start. I sat in line at the gas station for nearly 35 minutes while my car cooled off. I have had my starter replaced 3 times now...not including everything else that's been replaced on this car....smh

This can't just be M6, A8 would be susceptible too.

I literally just picked my car car up from the dealership for this exact issue. No start after hard driving on hotter days. Happened twice before but both times it eventually cranked over. This time suuuuppppeeeerrr slow start, like one or two slow revolutions of the crank before car would give up and go back to acc mode. Eventually after enough tries this time the starter gave up and smoke came out from under the hood. Towed to dealer and they replaced the starter. Will monitor to see if this happens again. But my issue seemed to be on hot days AND hard driving because hard driving on cooler days it would still crank over pretty easy or on hot days with easy driving it would still start right up.
