Found a video review from Kelley Blue Book on YouTube. Listed as 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE - First Look. Sorry I cannot attach a link, writing this from my phone. The test track looked pretty awesome with the mountains in the background.

Lets be real for a second, anyone who can afford a 72-75k sports coupe, has a daily driver. End of story.

Incredible car. Only thing I don't like, and I'm sure I'm in the minority on this, are the aero parts... Look like what I see glued onto Civics around here

We all wish that were true. But somewhere in America in the next 2 years there will be someone delivering pizzas in it. Trust me.

Pretty much what I was thinking. 15hp gain from increased compression and 30 hp from direct injection. 550 hp total and maybe a few more from Tri Y headers and that's all there is.

If Chevy produces an even faster and more extreme Camaro than the ZL1-1LE, it will be equipped with the ‘19 Corvette ZR1 7xx horsepower engine. But I highly doubt it will be NA. It’s difficult to tell from the ZR1 tester spy videos. But my guess is that it’s getting a larger supercharger than the LT4. We shall see. But as of now the ZL1-1LE is king of the road!

There's a few tweaks that can be done and put it over 550, it just a matter of how much can they do and still stick to EPA standards, cost, and what they're willing to warranty. I'd say they could get closer to 600, think about a h/c/I c6z, they'd put down close to 600 at the wheels. The potential is there, it's just a matter of how far they'd go and still adhere to laws.

It may not happen in the next few years but electric will be the way to go no doubt for performance. Mitch Medford's 1968 Mustang cranks out 800 hp and 1800 lb ft of TQ. 0-60 in 2.4 with 1/4 in 10. Once the cost drop then who knows. Maybe we will all be talking about the Chevy Volt 1LE. Lol. Regardless, truly an impressive machine. Sorry for the digression.

We do the same in the ZL1 we have and while the GF now has the SS, my ZL1 is still technically my only car. The SS is fully in her name (I'm not even on the title anymore). Some of us can easily afford these cars and just have no interest in a 2nd car. Why would I want to drive around in a POS beater if I have a nice car? That's just wasted money on parts, repairs, insurance, the price of the car itself, parking space (you get charged places near me or are restricted to 1 free one), etc. |
