Joining.....for now

Well I'm part of this club for now. Dealer dragging feet on a couple of items I wanted to add to the car. Notably a sunroof as I did overlook that when I ordered it. Was in there yesterday when I was still 2500 status and knew they could still make changes. Salesman was like a deer in the headlights when I asked and the order guy was pretty sure they couldn't. So now I'm at 3000 status with a TPW and they are telling me that Tuesday they will be able to do it. I guess GM only answers phone calls on Tuesdays. So if they cant confirm on Tuesday the changes have been made I'm walking away. Yes it's my error and I don't blame them but I'm surely not the first customer ever to have a change they wanted to make to their order. So I'll hang with you guys and gals for the time being LOL

At 2500 the change should have been made. At 3000 the dealer pulls the order and the order goes back to 2000 or 2500. At 3100 no change but the dealer can cancel the order. My understanding is the dealer loses the allocation when cancelling so most just keep the order and start a new order for buyers in your situation.

I expect your dealer has decided to tell you it is too late to make a change so it is up to you what to do next. But if you are at 3100 Tuesday it will be too late to make a change.

Thanks for the info laborsmith.....yes I'm pretty sure that's what they are doing. I've pretty much made my decision to just walk away from this dealer if they cant confirm in writing or a printed order that the changes have been confirmed. Tired of going in well informed (thanks to this forum) and them acting like they don't understand what I'm trying to do or can't answer any of my questions. Hate to have to start over but I want this car to have what I want. Have settled to many times buying cars off the lot and missing a few things that I'd like to have.

Same reason I ordered mine because I knew it would be hard to find what I wanted. I ordered exactly what I wanted but it does suck waiting. I haven't found a SS like mine on Autotrader yet which is weird because its just a NGM with a 6 spd, MRC and NPP for options. It will all be worth it when the car you want arrives though. Welcome to the club.

Little story while we wait.

I've never really liked camaros. Nothing wrong with 'em, and they were cool in the 80's, but I've always like corvettes. Really didn't like the 5th gen (sorry, nothing personal, just didn't like it), and hadn't planned on buying a camaro until:

Take my '06 mustang to the dealer for service. Missing so bad I had to have it towed. Dealer informs me the engine is shot and I need a new one. $6500 on a car worth less than $3000. Have car towed to independent mechanic. He can't find anything really wrong, other than it needs the 100k mile stuff done (new plugs, wires, etc). Car's working again. Ford pissed me off, and after 10 years I need a new car anyway, so I start doing some research.

THAT's when I see the '16 camaro. It's like a night and day difference. Where the 5th gen looked unfinished, crude, the update looks refined, upscale, modern. Much, much better. So I start reading reviews. The -only- bad thing has consistently been the visibility ( and even that's not 100%. It ranges from "abysmal" to "if you're used to sports cars, this is nothing to worry about".) All of the reviews talk about the interior, and the handling. Man... everyone raves about how great the handling is. And to me, that's more important than the raw horsepower / torque (those are important too, just don't want to be pushing a sled around).

I've been driving the mustang almost 10 years to the day. Except for the latest problem, it's been very reliable and I'm happy. If the dealer hadn't lied to me about the engine, I probably would have traded up to a new mustang.

Funny how life works. Early december, I had no idea the Camaro had been updated, didn't want one. Now I have one on order and am looking forward to meeting Becky.

I agree with you about the 5th gen Camaro SS not to my liking of my taste visually. The "Z"s looked a little better than the 5th gen SS but still couldn't buy one. I looked at 2015 SS's before I ordered my 16 because you can find them all over Autotrader for low $30's which is about 10k cheaper than the 16 SS that I ordered. So I thought would I rather have a 15 SS Supercharged or a 16 SS. I chose a 16 SS just based on the looks and the color I wanted. I couldn't decide on what color 15 I would have bought because not really a fan of any of the colors. I don't think I could have lived with the looks of the 15 everyday either. Next, I started looking at Mustangs due to my stepfather working at a Ford dealership but the performance difference in 2016 Camaro SS vs a 2016 Mustang GT was too much of a gap to consider the Mustang unless the Mustang cost about $25000 which it doesn't.

I'm also a Corvette guy. So Welcome to the club Flight. It's going to be a fun one.

Man, we're a patient bunch. I hardly ever see the 1/25 TPW thread pop up.

Saint Peters... you affected by the flooding much?

You all might want to check with Becky. I was a 1/25 and my car was created yesterday to 3800.

I checked earlier this week and I was at 3400 status. Kellen what dealer did you order through? I and another guy on here ordered through Jim Trenary. He has his car already.
