Car help 01 honda accord has no power

Hey guys my 01 honda accord died today i parked the car at a restaurant and tried using the power locks and it didn't work thinking it wasn't a big deal went inside and ate and came back and it wouldn't start

it wont start, nothing happens when the key is turned no gauges no lights, their is also no light where the key goes. My horn and rear brake lights work so i do have power

the battery is about a 1 1/2 years old and the alternator was changed around 6months ago

tried jump starting the car and checked the fuses

any help will be appreciated had to get the car towed home:(

Its a HONDA.........

sorry, couldn't resist......but if EVERYTHING is dead but the horn and brake lights, this has got to be major ECM issue. your computer may have just fried. Someone with a diagnostic reader of some sort will most likely need to be hooked up to READ the system.

Battery could have shorted a cell or two. Shorted cell(s) saps most of the power and keeps you from being able to jump it. Heat in Phoenix would take them out pretty regularly. Be fine and all of a sudden, bang...dead. Six cells just over 2 volts each. If you can measure the battery voltage with a digital volt meter, if you read 10 volts you have one cell shorted, 8 volts would be two cells.

Check the negative battery cable. Both at the battery and where it's grounded. Make sure it's tight. You have some voltage obviously but not enough to turn the starter.

Happened on my '91 Camaro. I guess this could happen on a Honda as well. (Couldn't resist)

Put an LS3 in it?

Sorry. Couldn't resist. Maybe the squirrel got loose under the hood and chewed through some wires?

Best of luck BTW

Electrical problems suck. Good luck with the repairs. I have nothing to help but this does bump the post for you.
