Volant Powercore vs Roto-fab
*****Thanks all! I made my decision.******
Hi all, Wanted to get your opinion on these intakes. I currently have a volant, which came with the car. Was wondering if I should sell it and go roto-fab instead, simply because I see it is so much more popular. Can I get your input on this? I switched out a roto-fab for a Vararam DRX on a heads/ cam car and the Vararam made more rwhp on the same Dyno with no other changes

Gains will likely be minimal. If you are mainly doing it for aesthetics I would say don't bother, unless looks matter more to you. You already have the CAI. Maybe focus on spending that money elsewhere.

I think the big thing for me is that even though the volant seems to be a quality unit, I didn’t pick it out. It was one of the only mods on the car, and I kinda want to start from scratch and have all new mods on the car, picked by me. Silly I’m sure but I can sell the volant and not be out too terribly much going to something else.

Roto fab is hugely popular and makes a great intake
Varam has been dyno proven to provide slightly higher more hp They are all pretty much the same so choose one in your price range. I chose the k&n because it was what I could afford at the time and I matched it with my friends rotofab and they are 95% identical

I was also looking at vararam but it looked like you need to modify your radiator bracket to make it fit the 2012, which I don’t want to do.
I went ahead and ordered the roto fab. I suppose I’ll have the volant available in the next week. Thanks all! Quote:

You can always change the filter out for a K&N type. The part number is 5144. Those power core filters are pretty good. They use those in helicopters, super heavy duty machinery and vehicles.

CAI kits are discussed endlessly on here - none of 'em are going to make you any significant hp gains without supporting modifications- you can get air in as quick as you want but if you don't do anything to evacuate it post-combustion all it's gonna do is make the induction roar more pronounced.
