Which oil??

I think that I want to change over to AMSOIL. Which one to choose. They have three. Signature series, XL and OE. All are 5w-30. Which one is everyone using?? Thanks in advance.

I have been using Mobil 1. Maybe I should just stick with it.

I mean - it's hard to beat M1 at under $25 for a 5qt container at walmart.

Valvoline synthetic 5W30 is good too! I have had good results when I used it in my 2016 SS with a Mobil 1 oil filter. Haven’t changed the oil in my ZL1 yet but will use Valvoline.

My first change was to Supertech 5w30 Dexos and 2nd was Valvoline 5w30 Dexos both were fine in my Z. Changed both at a bit under 20% on the OLM. Blackstone reports are below. Notes from the 1st report were:

Thanks for the notes. This sample looks good, so your sampling technique was fine. As to Super Tech versus Mobil 1, we don't really have an opinion one way or the other. Both will work just fine for GM's LT-4 engine, so if you like saving a bit of money, stick with Super Tech. Wear metals are already consistent with averages (which show typical wear after ~2,600 miles), and that's impressive. Typically we still find lingering break-in material in young engines like this, but this 6.2L is already shaping up nicely for you. Your Camaro is off to a great start!
I Switched to Mobil 0w40 ESP Formula for the current fill.

Sure. Even Penzoil. I just pick up whatever Walmart has in dexos 2 which normally is M1.

Gunkk, I thought GM only recommended the new 0w40 for the LT4 motor. The OP has the LT1, I would think he should stick with the 5w30.

And, it is way cheaper than the new 0w40 ESP. I just put some in my ZL1 at the 11,000 mile mark and it was more money than I thought... But, still worth it.

Nope, it's for both starting in 2019. But since nothing changed in the LT1 and LT4 since 2016/2017, most of us consider 0w40 the new recommended oil even though Chevy won't make the dealers spend (or reimburse them for) the extra co$t.

Pic below shows both LT1 and LT4 for Camaro.

SteveV and Gunkk, I’m planning on using 5W30 oil in my ZL1 until I hear something from GM to use the 0W40 or 5W30 is not available anymore. See no need to spend the extra money on the new oil as of now!

I actually spent the extra money on mine last time. Wanted to see what all the hype was about.

It does actually feel smoother and revs a little quicker than before. Doesn't feel any stronger though...

Yes of course there's no issue following the MFR recommendation listed in your manual.

IMO, any 5w30 Dexos oil will do fine for street-driven Camaros... If you want to save some $, go for Supertech. It's a few $ cheaper than Mobil1 per 5 qt jug and holds up just fine.

Rock Auto has AC Delco 5w30 dexos for around $18 for a 5qt jug. Perfectly fine for non tracked LT1s and manufacturer spec brand to boot.
