For those that have said you don't need a catch can...
My intake valves would like to have a word with you...
Sigh next up on my to do list.

His mods are listed in his sig. Never had a catch can on any of my Lt1 or Lt4 motors. No issues. So I guess I'm one of those your valves need to talk to.

So what are the signs that it's causing problems? I see OP has a pic, but is that "normal" on an LT1 or is that excessive and it's causing problems? Not a whole lot of info with his post... I've got just under 50k miles on mine. Couldn't tell you what the valves look like. Not having any issues with it though.

Mine runs 30# manifold pressure and barely a drop in the CC. Maybe a tbp. every few months. You're doing something wrong

And what would they have to say? Modded car, sees some unspecified amount of track use, I don't see much too worry about. Besides, the need for a catch can for modded engines used for high performance driving hasn't been controversial. It's the need for them on stock engines seeing street use that subject to debate, IMO.

It’s been quite while since I’ve seen a catch can post. Please, let’s not re-start the trend.

I'll join the no catch can crew. Don't need it...Mines more of a weekend car, not a daily driver so no need for me!

I had my 16ss apart several times, had 250 passes down the track and 12500 miles. My valves were in good shape each time and never resembled yours. I'm about to pull the blower off to get a bearing replaced so I'll take a peak at mine again. I have about 50 passes on this new build and 8000 miles. Expecting the same on this car as my 16. Swapped manifolds a few times on my 16 C7, not a problem.

Stock SS, weekend fun car, never tracked, driven "spiritedly" but NOT abusively... This is out of a Mishimoto Catch Can after about 700 miles... Might not "need" it, but damn glad I have it... That oil is NOT on my intake valves...

I don't have any issues that I know of. It just makes me cringe. Although my tuner said I should probably replace my spark plugs. I have NGK i9 spark plugs and I do have a catch can just not installed yet. Figure I should probably clean the intake valves first then throw that stuff on. I daily the car and probably go to the strip maybe once a week during summer. Driving on the street if 1 being garage queen driving style vs spirited driving style. I'd probably give myself a 3 or a 4. I honestly don't spend a lot of time in the upper rpm range outside of the drag strip.
