Considering trading my 1LE for a ZL1
After 3 years of loving my 1LE, I’m considering a ZL1. To those of you who have spent time in one, not on the track, how does aggressive cornering compare to the 1LE? Anything else to consider? Thanks.

I have driven both. I own a 2017 SS 1LE and my dads friend had a 2018 ZL1 that I spent some time in when I sold for him on this forum last summer. The handling honestly felt the same to me. The ZL1 has ALOT more HP but the ride was the same and cornering felt just like my 1LE. I think they have comparable suspension parts.

if you care about warranty and want more power then trade it in, if you don't care about warranty and are just looking for power i'd say throw a whipple on your car, or heads/cam and you'll out perform a stock zl1 by far.

I’m thinking about making the same switch. My biggest concern is losing the excellent overall balance of the SS 1LE, trading it for the bigger, heavier lump of gas-guzzling horsepower under the hood of the ZL1 1LE. (But you can never have too many horsepower, right?)
From a value standpoint, I’m also not convinced that the ZL1 is worth $30K more than the SS 1LE. Besides the lower initial cost and lower insurance, the ZL1 1LE reportedly only runs 4 or 5 seconds a lap faster than the SS 1LE at tracks like Road Atlanta. Bu then there’s that horsepower... I owned a Shelby GT 350 before my SS 1LE. The GT 350 was a huge disappointment, and I like the Camaro more in just about every way. So the question is, will I like the ZL1 1LE even more? I guess it’s time to test drive one... |

At the end of the day, for me, Its all about h.p. Its not about racing or being faster than the other guy. Its about the thrill of feeling it when you jump on the gas. I like when the car scares me some. I traded in a 2013 GT500 with 662hp. That car was scarey fast to me even in stock form. My 2019 ZL1 /LE seems even a little quicker but there is a gearing difference between the two cars. My intentions was to actually buy a GT350 and drove three of them. Great cars but they just dont have the h.p. that was going to make me happy. That bieng said, Id upgrade to the ZL1 all day. |

IM on the same boat as you... but in my case, I have a 700hp 1LE so I already destroy Z's
My thing is now I really want that A10 and the other creature comforts as I am now married so the better sound, Heat&Cooled seats, maybe even the sunroof are things that would make my drives and road trips with my better half more enjoyable... Plus just having the A10 and swapping over my parts would actually make a killer car. But at the same time... I keep lurking those c7z.....

I had a SS 1LE that I autocrossed and tracked and drove to and from all of these places. I now have a ZL1 with the 10 speed. The 1LE did feel more balanced. The ZL1 is more fun to drive and have. It’s so fast with the 10 speed. It’s just more fun. Also I wanted the extra creature comforts (I had a 1SS). The ZL1 is the whole package. In fact, I drive it more because it puts a smile on my face that my 1LE didn’t. The 1LE was great at autocross and twisty back roads, the ZL1 is fun everywhere.
