I am a big M2 fan, I drove a 2017 manual and really enjoyed the car, it's size is very advantageous in an autocross setting, great brakes and nice power delivery, felt very nicely balanced. Even though the 19' got a nice bump in power it did gain quite a bit of weight (mostly over the front axle I believe) I wonder how much, if at all faster the 19' will be compared to the 2016-18 cars on an auto-x course.
I probably would have considered an M2 except for us here in Canada you can get a 1LE new for low 50's but could luck getting into a new M2 for less than 80. Quote:

Road & Track had a 2SS 1LE with no options other than the 1LE option. The tip-off was that they said it had heated and cooled seats. $49,995 is the MSRP for a 2019 2SS 1LE.

One would think so. Power goes dead flat at 5K.

I have both an F80 M3 and a Whipple-charged 1LE.
The M3 has DCT and a tune, and it's fast. It's also buzzy and rattly and tiresome to drive. The 1LE is more plush, has a better-assembled interior, and a perfect One Lap companion. The M3 is daily driven and is going to be turned into something else, and the Camaro gets to keep the garage. The M2C is the same weight as the M3, and gives up stuff like the carbon roof to the M3/4. I think the M2 has smaller wheels than the M3 as well, which hurts it for autocross at the same weight.

Also, the chassis isn't as good and it is undertired. All the power in the world won't help you if you can't convert that power into grip.
I had a 16' M3 and even at stock power levels and with extreme performance tires on, I still had issues with traction most of the time.

The SS 1LE wins another rigged comparison test. For the prices to be close they should have compared the ZL1 and the M2 Competition. That wouldnt even be a contest though. The M2 Competition would get destroyed at corners, braking, and on the straights in that comparison.

Agreed! Average selling price is information really on the buyer to obtain, magazines can only do so much as you say.

You had a s65, have a F80, and an LT1. The F80 excites me in no way as I can't stand the sound. The LT1 from the outside looking in seems really boring, but at the same time I know torque is tons of fun from my modded LS3 1LE. I really like the looks of the Grand Sport and love the value of the 1LE, but I fear if I bought either, the one glaring thing I would want to change is the one thing I can't...the engine. I haven't test driven either yet, am I wrong about the LT1?

I too was a little skeptical about the LT1 as GDI is fairly new compared to the port injection it replaced. So far it seems the LT1 it a good engine, very similar to the LS3 with just a little more complexity thrown in with the fuel system.
