And the only way that would happen if either the z06 gets a bump, a zr1 appears with 700hp+ or the camaro finally breaks the mold and has a powerplant that is more powerful than the one in the vette.
I don't think we will see anything in the 700hp range. Like you said unless the Z06 gets a power bump I see the next ZL1 getting no more than 650hp.

And 650 will be enough to keep up with the other guys at the 1/4 mile track, though maybe not beat them consistently. But you can bet the zl1 will crush them both at a race track, as well as some European exotics.

I am not sure we are going to see a Z?? or GT500 for 2016 model year so if you want 1/4 mile speed stock the hellcat is where it will be at for a wile.

that being said any of these new cars mod so easy that 10's are just right around the corner for any of them if you have 10k to spend.

I have see no hard facts on either car just rumor mill.

May I ask what do you expect exactly?????the 5th gen SS was just a coupe with a V8 but the 1LE was a great package and gave the SS sone great advantages compared to the mustang or challenger.but for the 2016 SS....you get MRC, heavy duty cooling packages,GFX,etc......and in general a "track ready" SS.so what are you exactly hoping for?big tires, matte black hood and maybe a bit more aggressive gear ratios?

Grippy 285 Tires all around would be big, the 3.91 gear would be nice too.
The black hood I could take or leave.

285 tires on all four corners.
Good hydraulic dampers.
Stiffer springs, bushings and sways.
Gearing for track work.
Upgraded aero.
6 piston brakes with larger rotors.
Maybe dry sump LT1.

That's a nice list, maybe add:
Recaro seats
19 inch wheels with 305's would be sweet
Cold air intake
electronic differential like Z51
Hood with better heat extraction
Front brake cooling ducts and side body vents

The Good hydraulic dampers.
Stiffer springs, bushings and sways has been replaced by the magnetic ride control and the 6 piston brakes are optional for the SS this time.as for the better aero we have the GFX also as an option this time.anything else you would like to add?
you see im not trying to say the 1LE is useless package but im saying that we don't have 1LE this time INSTEAD we have all the options in the 1LE package by itself. For example I hate the matte hood but I want all the performance goodies that come with it so I choose MRC, GFX and 6 piston brembos without having to deal with the hood this time

And let me guess ... all this for less than the $3500 that the 5th gen 1LE costs, right?

It always amazes me when people want everything & the kitchen sink on the 6th gen 1LE, when in reality its never been much more than a pretty basic performance pack.

Stiffer springs are not the same as on-the-fly adjustable shocks. Yes, they're both suspension upgrades ... but thats about where the similarities end.

The GFX kit probably does nothing for aerodynamics. Such kits are almost always for looks, not performance.
