Ted, thanks for the comments. Looking forward to getting it back out and a return to the dyno after the snow melts. Anxious to see what the 416 will do on the autobahn!

Figured during the downtime, I've install a fresh set of front brakes...very impressive what Chevy provides us now days - huge!

Amazing!:

Laying on 35 degree floor is unpleasant and getting the trans to drop enough to slide out is a royal pain...

Halfway at least!

Definitely the flywheel failing...

After sitting overnight...quite a mess:

Old versus new:

Flywheel weight:

Going back together this weekend...but snow on the ground means another 6 weeks! That trans is a pain to remove...

Success! All reassembled and fired up with nary a leak! Bit more tidying up, fresh engine oil, brake bleed and back on the ground tomorrow.

Pfew - glad that is over...

Germany may have its problems but legally
driving 150mph in a 1LE isn't one of them...

302crossram: Agreed! Autobahn is quite a treat!

Got the car on the ground and took around the block - no leaks and got all 6 gears plus reverse! Happy, once again.

Took a short shot of the cammed idle (quite tame) - click on the image!:

Premium gas in Europe is 98 RON (roughly equivalent to 93.5 US). As I remember from last time, Shell has 100 RON V-Power (that is, 95.5 US) and some places even carry 102 RON gas (that would be 97 US), too.

Regular gas in the EU is 95 RON, aka 90.5 US.

All of these are insanely expensive in Europe compared to our prices.

arpad has it correct. Americans don't pay the tax so 98 octane fuel is ~$4 a gallon. Otherwise, it tops 8-9 bucks!

Ethanol is nonexistent.

Unseasonably warm here in Stuttgart...decided it was brake bleeding day using Motul 660 fluid and installing Cadillac brake deflectors:

OEM install:

Removed:

Cadillac deflectors installed:

I was amazed at the ease of install - everything just bolted up. Only modification was two holes to reattach the wiring harness as OEM was. Several times the surface area - will it help? Admittedly, I have no issues with the brakes, but cooler means longer life, right? Can't complain for $19 purchase price.
