They're going to sell a lot of 1LTs.

Well I happen to like manual transmissions and also simplicity in cars and trucks. My 97 Wrangler is as simple as it gets and so easy to work on. Straight 6, manual transmission, everything is screwed together in the dash, plain AM/FM radio, manual door locks, manual ignition and not even roll down windows- zippers. Love it. And for my driving style I get better gas mileage with a manual n almost any vehicle.

But I also like automatics- they are faster and better for drag racing. I'm in a M6 in my Camaro, my second Camaro as my 2017 with the A8 was horrible just due to the A8 shudder and slipping. Hopefully Chevy gets the transmission right in the C8.

Also the Camaro has lots more room than the C8- you can fit in three with a pinch but can't do that in a C8. And the C8 has very limited cargo room. So the Camaro is more functional than a C8 in terms of practicality.

The eight-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) was Co-developed with Tremec. It is the best of both worlds and for you hard core manual gearbox guys out there, just think of it as an electronically controlled manual because that's what it is. The new DCT is the primary reason GM is able to get a 0-60 time of 3 seconds with a 490 HP small block.

Well, they technically kept their word when they said "Under $60k". You can use the extra $5 on an air freshener.

1lt honestly gives up a lot of nice to have things, id honestly way a year and get a higher trim.

2LT with Z51 would be really nice. With some extras I am at $75k. It's of course a lot of money for a car, but still pretty cheap for the delivered performance.

I will not be an early adopter, but definitely concidering to upgrade to the C8 in a few years

Now if we can get our hands on one for a Magnuson Blower and break into GM's ECU we'll be good to go.

So long as there's a fully automatic mode, and the only impediment to operating the transmission any way but manually is a question of software, it's not a manual. Functionally there's no real difference between operating a slush box auto in a manual mode than there is a DCT in a manual mode, no matter how much faster the DCT is to shift. With a real manual, you can add some automatic- like convenience features with software such as auto rev matching, but you can tweak software all you want and it's not going to work the clutch and third pedal for you.

I found the lack of a manual in the C8 a bit disappointing though not unexpected, and if I had the means I wouldn't let that stop me from buying a C8, but all the convoluted logic in the world won't change the fact that the manual Corvette is gone.

This ^ Spending that much on a car I would want the things in the 2LT package and even then at 67-68K the car is a steal IMO.

You can run the DCT in manual mode if you prefer. The DCT doesn't have a torque converter so it is direct drive and therefore more akin to a manual transmission than an automatic.
