E85/Headers/Tune - VERY Surprised

As the title says, finally got tuned for e85 and long tube headers. Running the EFI flex fuel kit and Kooks 1 7/8 in to MBRP catback exhaust. I am extremely surprised as how much faster the car feels now. I knew it would be 50-60 whp but it makes solid power all the way across the power band.

Who did your tune!? I only gained about 35-40WHP and have the exact same mods. Unless my E content is really bad lol.

Tim did mine and I had to get new tires. Michelin pilot sport plus PS4. I can't agree more with the OP, it is crazy all the way from low to top, and tip in.

So when you're tuned for E-85 and using the flex fuel sensor does that mean you can only use E-85 now?

You can go back and forth. Just mix it right in

Cunningham Motorsports did. It really depends from dyno to dyno and place to place. It cant' be that because the way they tuned it, they told me that I will get full timing at 50% ethanol so that way it's safe and won't blow the motor lol

Ya Dubchitts is correct. With a flex fuel sensor you can do any mixture of e85 and 91. HP will just go up and down depending on what's in the tank.

Definitely! I noticed the traction control coming on in 3rd gear on my first pull!

Ahh I see! Glad you finally got your headers tuned! Do you feel a difference in the throttle response now from tuned and untuned headers?

Not really. There's more power available down low so it may feel that way, but throttle response is about the same.

I've been running E85 exclusively since installing my flex fuel sensor kit - probably on tank 5 or 6 by now. The car has felt noticeably stronger from the beginning, the difference was not at all subtle and I was very pleased with the butt dyno increase. That being said, I filled up at a different station last week and the car really came alive, I am certain the increase from this tank vs my first several E85 fills was as much or more than when I switched from 93 octane to E85.
I wonder If the alcohol content is fairly consistent for a given station? It would be nice if this were the case but I expect it's just a crap shoot.

The ethanol content does vary from station to station yes. It will depend on your tune and how they did it. Also keep in mind it could be something simple like the temperature outside dropped and your car is just running harder. Tough to say.

Any downside to running e85 in our cars?? Like longevity wise, or damage to fuel system...anything?

None that anyone is aware of. Many Chevy cars can run flex fuel from the factory.
