Changing gears in a lt
So I had a guy recommend putting 3.91 gears in my auto lt was wondering how that would help and where I can them and also how much they would run and how much install would cost. Also would I have to retune the car?

I just did mine and it's around $1200-1400 including parts. However I drive an SS so I'm not sure a 6 cylinder differential is the same as what I have. You better do some research.

Assuming you don't want to travel too far, I recommend calling or emailing shops you are considering. Knowing what others paid across the country probably won't change a local quote.

i know you were looking for a shop for tuning and other mods earlier you should try one of those shops to see if they can help yes you will need a tune as well because your speedometer will be off with the new gears and what speed its reading will not be correct

Auto LT v6's will have a 3.27 open diff (2.92 on LS autos), the only available aftermarket gears available are 3.55 i believe. The (in my opinion) better and smarter route is to find a stock SS rear end with 3.45 gears and go from there. This will require basically the whole SS rear cradle, which i know are often for sale in these forums, or buy the diff and new axles to fit.

Do a google search and let me know once you find 3.91 gears for a v6 open diff. I've done plenty of research on this topic myself and you basically NEED an SS or higher diff for anything performance based.
