I'm Leaving for a Month
Hi everyone,
So I have never been away from a car that I own for more than a week. But in July I am going to be gone for a little over 4 weeks. My 23 2ss Camaro will be in my garage but should my wife take it on a few short drives while I am gone? Should I just leave it sit in the garage? Any advice is appreciated! Currently it has 1,705 miles on it.... |

No need to do anything honestly, 1 month is not that long. I would just fill up the gas tank and let it be, no need to add fuel stabilizer or a battery tender(unless you already have one).

Yeah, 4 weeks is not that long. Fill up the tank, get a quality trickle charger (read: Optimate), hook it up to the underhood terminals and you'll be just fine.
Actually, since your car and thus the battery is so new, I'd venture it'll easily survive a month, but if you want to preserve the battery, go with the trickle charger, you may need it later, too.

safe travels.
I have no real input. Personally, I do not let my vehicles sit more than a week without a good round trip. But I do early stage process development and my OCD could not handle it

Oct 2020 I left my 7 month old 2SS in the garage for a solid month when I went to Gulfstream G600 Initial Training, sat with the car cover over it and I put it in "Transport Mode" and when I came home it was just fine...

If it were mine, all I would do is connect my Battery Tender. Honestly, you don't need to do -anything- to it. Just let it sit and it will be fine.

Cars sit all the time for well over a month with nothing done to them. Dealers lots, car collections, etc... You don't need to do a thing.

You could also add a little extra air in the tires to help combat flat spots, but I don't think a month is going to make a difference.

I have left my 2017 (with original battery) sit for up to 6 weeks and have had no issues.

Up here in the salt and ice states it's sits for 4 mts. With no problems just a trickle charge and Stabil in the gas. I use jack stand on the lower A arms to keep the tires off the concrete. But for a mt. no worries.

short tripping it is worse than letting it sit. only for a month, i wouldn't worry about it. park it and forget it.
