End of the day it is obvious that GM is making the best performance cars for the least amount of money. It's not even up for debate anymore.

Your assuming that a Mustang buyer is interested in a Vette. The C7s were available in the 50k range and the Mustang still sold great. Did the 50k base C7 steal Camaro buyers away? At the end of the day most will purchase what their passion is. In regards to the C8 yes it is a cool car now but as soon as a Z06 option is offered it will be forgotten about. At least with a ZL1-E you are at the top of the Camaro food chain. I'd still rather have a ZL1.

It isn't an assumption. There are lots of Mustang buyers already looking to get one of the C8s. Even a base. The C7, as great as it was, it was not what the C8 will be. The C8 will be in a class by itself. It is basically going to change the world of performance vehicles as we know it. And after the let down that was the GT500 MSRP along with nobody knowing the weight of the damn thing even now, I am betting that 0-60 under 3 seconds will have many people jumping ship.

While I agree that the C8 Z06 will have everyone forgetting the standard C8, that is a far way off. And even then the standard C8 will still be awesome. The Z06 will just be more awesomer. And the ZR1 will make everyone forget about the Z06. So I'm not sure what point you were trying to make. Would I rather have the Z06? Sure. Am I gonna wait until whenever to get my hands on a C8? No. I'm getting an optioned C8 as soon as my Hellcat lease is up. Then when the Z06 arrives I'll decide whether to ditch the ZL1 or the C8 standard Vette or both or whatever...

Im keeping my GT and getting a base C8 Z51, or maybe just a base C8, depending on color and options. Got an allocation at Van Chevrolet here in Scottsdale. I bought my last two Corvettes from them and was treated very well. They also sold me my GS under MSRP when it was still a hot commodity.

Also, I this is what I have about you being petty.

That's so funny, because you are describing my wife's reaction exactly. I don't even want to buy one yet (still have one kid in college right now), but my wife is already asking when we will take delivery, and what color are we getting!!

GS Stingray is $66 MSRP.

So let's say, for argument's sake, that the C8 Base is $59,999. Following the trend, the Z51 added on should keep it under $70K. A fully loaded C8 with Z51 or whatever designation they give it should still be less than $80K. And I'm guessing a Z06 version will start around $85K - $90K. And there will be no markups at all. So for $85K to around $110K or more, the Z06 version will be untouchable by the competition.

Also, it is debatable, but I believe that even the standard C8 will run circles around the C7 with Z51. And I think it'll give the standard ZL1 and the GS a run for their money. The ZLE tho, that will be interesting to see. But I don't think the GT500 base will stand a chance against it unless it is on a track where the GT500 can stretch it's legs and can keep up in the turns.
It does seem like the C8 pricing strategy is similar to the GT350 (except C8 will be properly equipped lets get that out of the way lol). the Base price will probably be 59,995 just to say it starts under 60 much like the GT350 started at 49999 to be under 50. But will get expensive quick once you start adding options. But the numbers Blaq laid out seem more than fair for what you are getting. I expect most C8s to go in the high 60s to mid 70s which is more than fair bc even at that cost, that's what I guessed/hoped it would start at. So the C8 sure seems to be an amazing value. I would say it's safe to guess that the C8 Z51, will probably be close to C7 GS in terms of performance.

I am sure it will get cross shopping just because of the price range.

You mention you would rather have a ZL1, me at that price range sign me up for the C8 every day and twice on sunday. Someone else still might say don't care give me the GT500 or RE.

I am sure the C8 is going to steal some initial sales, but at the same time the RE, ZL1 and GT500 will still have their markets and still have people buying them up. Some people jsut aren't corvette people, some people might just want to own the most powerful Mustang ever, some people may just want the best Camaro ever and some people want the big bad Dodge.

This is one of the biggest reasons that Chevy went mid-engine. The average age of the Corvette buyer is much higher than any other performance car by a longshot, and this mid-engine design is going to lower that by quite a bit.

I don't think the old-man sterotype will fit anymore. Most of the old guys are going to hate this because it is too big a departure from the good-ole-days, and no manual. And young folks could care less about tradition, they are too young for there to be any tradition, and they don't know how to drive a manual.

But, time will tell....

It was more of an "old guy" car because GENERALLY they are the only ones who could and can still afford them.

I know plenty of young people who would love to have a Corvette, but other priorities come first when you're young.

GM has been trying for decades to get younger buyers into the Corvette but the cost is the limiting factor. Young buyers canít afford a $60-70k second car. Maybe they can lease one.
