I don’t want a tune... honestly, I’m not chasing horsepower... I like the sound of it and the looks. I triple checked all the clamps, hoses, maf sensor, etc. It’s all tight. Disconnected the negative again... I’ll leave it disconnected for a few hours.

No issues with the stock one. No codes... nothing. Sad RotoFab doesn’t put a disclaimer that CEL is possible. I wouldn’t have bought the darn thing.

A code is not the norm and a tune is not necessary with a standard roto fab. I would leave the negative cable disconnected over night. Even if the CEL comes back on, drive it around for a few days and see if it disappears for good. Sometimes the computer has to “see” a set number of cycles within the acceptable range before a CEL will turn off, even if the problem is fixed.

you shouldn't get one with the rotofab. Have you tried swapping the factory intake back to see if it goes away?

No, not yet... that’s going to be next.

Shouldn't be getting any codes with a simple RF install. Did you unplug the battery before you did the install?

If you removed the MAF without unplugging the battery it can trip a code. Some of the modules do stay awake and or even wake up while the car is turned off which can trip codes.

Even though you have cleared the codes, some do store in the historical section of the ECM history and wont clear until so many key cycles and drive cycles are completed.

Gotcha. Thank you!

Wasn't mentioning a tune regarding chasing horsepower. If you keep the rotofab, this may solve the issue.

Also, I don't think anyone else has had this issue after a simple rotofab install, so Rotofab putting a disclaimer on it isn't the answer either. Since it's just your car having the issue, seems like the fault may lie with the person that did the install

I have the same intake going into a mamo TB and no codes, and i can’t recall seeing anyone throw a code with just the RF CAI. It’s a very common mod. These cars are strange in how they react differently to the same mods, as well as how the computer(even when disconnected for some time) will relearn old stuff to keep itself happy.

Good luck in figuring it out man, frustrating I’m sure.

I installed mine about a week after I bought the car. Everything was fine for almost 2 years and 6k miles until I got a check engine light but it was for bank 1 and 2 rich. Took it to dealer and the found the filter wasn't seated properly to the tube at the bottom. Fixed that and fine so far. Was just lucky for 2 years. That said, I would think having something loose upstream of the MAF would cause a rich condition, not a lean one. Did you disconnect MAF for install? Maybe your MAF was damaged? Per the RF install vid I left mine plugged in when I removed it.

I am even running a Rotofab Big Gulpmodified with the stock intakes rubber piping so I could connect it to my Katech Ported 87mm tb. No issues at all with a check engine light

When setting both of those codes, it's very common to be a MAF issue. Could it have been damaged while swapping to the new intake?

That's actually a really good idea for warranty purposes. I may do this myself. Looks like 10 minutes to take the RF shield and filter and replace with the stock intake.
