I think that would be with race fuel, right? I figure right at 700whp on e85 st 9psi (manual tranny cars running 725)...with 11psi, we should see right about 750whp on e60. There is another thread where Ted was sharing those results.

My guess is that I will never run race fuel unless it is only in an effort to put the snack down on my good buddy @Laynlo...

Net/net, I figure my normal street setup will be running 11psi st about 750whp when all done. Assuming a 15% drivetrain loss, that means approx 880HP (for marketing purposes). I can see custom badging for the 880 SS.

15 psi on pump gas no meth was 725whp in 5th gear.

15 psi on 110 no meth was 815 in 5th gear.

17.5 psi (with a few other changes) on 110 was 850+ with some minor belt slip that we later corrected but never re-dynoed.

Which cam are you running?

In one of the threads discussing the Super Street Brawler, I think they ran 700whp on 93 with 11psi. However, they were able to lower boost to 9psi with e85 and run 725whp. Then in another more recent thread, we see 750whp on e60.

So, I guess the difference is e85 and maybe the cam?

Mine is just a custom spec Cam Motion grind. Not too aggressive. I can look up specs.

Yes, with Sunoco 260 GT Plus 104 Octane fuel. 740whp on 93 octane. Ran great up to 13psi, after that with either 15psi or 17psi we ran into a lot of heat soak. Keep in mind that I live in the hot humid caribbean heat and this was a year ago when there were no larger intercooler bricks or larger throttlebody neck available...

I tried meth with water, with a lot of water, pure meth and the heat soak was still there. Car was awesome at the dyno, but there was a lot of heat soak at the track. My best performance was with 11psi.

Keep in mind that this is my personal experience, not turning down Magnuson or anything! Car has a Procharger now, but if those cooling upgrades were available last year, most likely the car would still have the Maggy as I loved the instant power and torque.

Living on a caribbean island doesn't help with heat!

I picked the car up tonight and tried to get some logging in using the mvpi pro device. I logged for about 20 minutes and thought I had it logging when the check engine light came on. When I looked at the logs, it didn't record everything. I assume I did something wrong in configuring the device.

Regardless, I took my laptop and cruised around for another 15 minutes and that logged everything. File sent to @tedjannetty so looking forward to the next steps.

For what it's worth, we did find two things that I need to address with the build:

1. The Kooks LT headers didn't connect right to the stock mids...got to figure out what I need to make that happen...@Ricco, what did you use? I know someone asked about it earlier...so that is probably worth another thread once I figure out the answer for the vert...I believe it's problematic with the additional vert support.

2. I am not confident we have the BAP configured correctly. I need to do some checking and make sure it's right.

Tuning is moving right along. The car sounds amazing and still not sure the BAP is setup correctly...but finally got a WOT run in 4th and now it’s time to start working on the e85 tune. Should get some good logging on e85 this week and we will resume updating the tune next week.

So far it appears the changes we made to the BAP settings eliminated the starter fuse from blowing. Would like to get with the mechanic this week and go through wiring and setup. Plus, I want to get the car on a lift to get pictures of the race pipes to mid-pipe...to see if I can get an aftermarket mid-pipe that will fit better.

The grin won't go away, the ladies will be thinking that you are thinking bad thoughts....

I'm also shooting for 707 WHP SAE. I wish I did the forged pistons, and now have to wait till next summer to drop pulley sizes..

Yep. First phase 700. Then 750 by upping boost to 11psi probably in the next month...then 800whp on race fuel. That will be on special occasions at the track

Well, I had an interesting situation. On Google, several of the gas stations around town have e85. It's not true. After visiting 3 locations, I pulled over and started calling. I found one and filled the first half tank of e85. I need to get some logging over the weekend.

A check engine light did come on:

Name: codes after E85.JPG
Views: 237
Size: 32.9 KB

I cleared the codes and will see if they come on again. I expect it was just linked to the first time running e. If anyone knows different, feel free to let me know.

Otherwise, I should have my new logging sessions off to Ted on Monday.

Update...tune is going well. I had a problem because we saw the low pressure fuel pump falling off and dropping psi with 57% ethanol. However, I had a hunch my voltage booster wasn’t working. Tonight I was out trying to figure out what was wrong and got it fixed. I immediately went out and logged another 4th gear WOt run and BAM! Fuel pressure was over 70psi the entire run (it was dropping to about 43psi before).

I am pumped now because it feels like everything is where it should be and the car is working beautifully.

Few lessons learned:
1. I wish I had waited on selecting the exhaust until after I had done everything else.
2. I do wish I had gone with the forged rods and pistons (vs just pistons).

For my specific usecase it really shouldn’t matter. I expect to pretty much call it quits around 750whp...other than occasional track outings where I may run race fuel and get a little more aggresssive on the tune.

I can’t tell you how pumped I am that the BAP is now working as it should. What a huge difference!

I posted this in the exhaust section, but I don’t check there very often so, here’s what th car sounds like right now. My 10 year old daughter starting the car and revving (a little more aggressive than I was (in the 2nd video).

She will be taking the other car...not this one. Too dangerous as it’s currently configured.

Update...ready to up the %E. Last run was 63% and things looked great. Going to 70+.

Interesting side note, my friend owns the gas station with E85. I asked him about ordering straight E and he said that they have to get the E85 confirmed at the pump for regulatory reasons in IL (we were texting). I should see him tonight and will find out more about the process just because I am curious, at the pump will I see e85 or something less?

It’s raining today and I have calls this afternoon...I think I am going to just cruise around for a couple hours, take my calls and get rid of some gas so I can get some test runs in when the roads dry off.
