I have the same issue with my 416. I can’t do 2nd or 3rd gear under high RPM.
What clutch do you have? My clutch pressure always feels the same and fluid has been flushed 2x recently.

You both might want to check the install on the clutch. There could be too much clearance between the HRB and the clutch.

So I spent a lot of time on the googleand I have a few things that could be doing this. Throw out bearing, pilot bearing, weights on clutch are too much making it not disengage at high RPM, the “clutch pressure relive valve” plunger thing.
Opinions?

I had this issue a while back. I fixed mine by machining a .05 spacer to set between the slave and transmission faceplate and bled the system out till there wasnt a single air bubble. Shifted perfect thereafter.

This is sounding right online. I also would check the tune. Hardware does seem to be at the center but it also could be a misalignment in the computer with the rev matching section of the new transmissions.

My car was being datalogged and we couldn’t find anything weird. I don’t see how rev matching would effect and up shift at high rpm

I'm sorry to hear that this is happening to you OP! All I keep thinking about is that I'd need to re-mortgage the house to pay for all this! LOL Definitely hoping that you get it all sorted out soon, because that car is going to be a beast!

Sounds like this could be the issue. OP, have you discussed this problem with any of the clutch/transmission companies (Monster, Centerforce, RPM, etc) or maybe a good cali shop like CMS?

You both need to get back in there and check/set the release bearing to pressure plate clearance. It sounds like you are not getting 100% release and the continued drag is overpowering the synchronizers, and it just grinds away. Continued operation like this will eventually wear out the synchros and require a transmission repair.

What is going on sounds clutch related, though. How is shif effort? What clutch setup are you using? Flywheel machined? Sounds like the clutch isn’t disengaging enough. |
