Dash stopped working. All warning lights came on.

Hi all

I have a 2017 Camaro 2.0L turbo manual transmission. It has about 20,000 miles. While I was driving, my dash and radio screen became super bright, gauges stopped working, started chiming all the warning lights, airbag light, turn signals stopped working.

Then it stopped and came back shortly after.

I wasn't able to get a video while driving, but took some photos when I finally got home. The engine was running in these pics.

I searched the forum and some had an issue with the rear wiring harness??
Just wanted to get some thoughts on this before a possible high repair bill.
Oh and my warranty ended back in November 2020.

Thank you for your help.

May be time to remove the negative battery cable for a while to reset the communications between the computers.

Do you have wider wheels and tires in the rear? I assume the harness problem you refer to is the damage caused by rubbing with wide tires, but that should not happen with the stock setup.

If not, then remove the negative terminal as koolkat68 suggested, wait 10 minutes or so to force a hard reset of the system and hope it's just a fluke. If the issue comes back despite that and you can't see any wiring harness damage, well, you can try and read out the codes from the OBD-II port to see if that gives the problem away, or your car will need a mechanic.

Thank you both for your help. It has stock wheels. No mods to the car.
I'll try removing the neg cable first.
Appreciate your time.

I had the same thing happen with my 2017 V6, dealer had to replace the whole head unit to fix it. It would happen to me intermittently so they could never replicate it. I took a video on my phone when it happened again and showed the dealer so they could see it and they just swapped it out for a new unit and I didn't have any more issues.

cbo2188: Curious here.

Did the negative terminal disconnect resolve your issue?

I parked the car until today. Started it and had no issues.
I removed the neg battery terminal anyway for about a half hour. Also pushed all the fuses under the hood and trunk so see if any might have been loose but all seemed tight.
After reconnecting the battery cable, I took it for a 20 min drive and still no issues yet.
