Weak start (2016 SS)

Took my 2016 SS to the dealer for weak start analysis. They said they ran a diagnostic on the battery, alternator, and starter, but it diagnosed normal.

After I picked up my car, there was a "Test Report" (receipt paper) on the dash with the diagnostic results. It showed this:

BAC CODE 171600

Diagnostic Mode
Test Info
CCA 700
Out of Vehicle
Flooded

Results
Good Battery
Rated: 700 CCA
Measured: 794 CCA
Measured Volts: 12.42
Amp Hours: 0.0

I read around on the forums and noticed "heat soak". I think that might be a factor because it tends to happen after my car is hot and I restart it.

It did not do this last Summer, but I'm worried that when it hits 100+ degrees this Summer that it might fail and leave me stranded.

Is there a GM bulletin or warranty covered fix for this?

With the battery in the trunk would the amount of heat soak really be that much compared to an engine bay? Only askin' as I'm in the south too, haven't had an issue but only had my car 4 months.

Think he's referring to heat soak of the starter.

Same here.. after a good 30 mins of being on when I try to turn it right back on it will sometimes hesitate for even a half second between cranks. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong either

Noticed it turns over slightly slower than a on a cold start when the motor is hot. I'm not worried about it.

Heat soak and a slow (... like WAY slow) starter are a well-known peculiarity of this car. Lots of people have reported very slow cranking when engine is hot, but no one—to my knowledge—has reported a failure to start. If it actually fails to start, that would be news.

Same here people. I wouldn't too much worry about it unless it decides to not start at all.

This happens to me between autocross runs if I turn the car off. I leave it on now because it's a pain in the ass to remember to put it into track mode then comp mode.

I have the same issue with my car currently, but I don't believe mine is related to heat soak. Do any of you have an accessory charger plugged in? I notice that when i leave a device plugged in to the accessory charger with the engine off, even for a few minutes, the starter turns wayyyyyyyy slower. Like the charger is sapping power, or the car continues to supply power even while its off. (enough to quickly drain the battery)

I just completed a long drive from los angeles to san diego and back. traffic on the way down, traffic on the way up. engine was definitely warm, but the starter would work fine if i remembered to remove my accessory charger.

2016 2ss btw, 10k miles
