Are the Bowling Green engine builds still rarer than the non-plaqued engines?

Hi tara,
you've got a good question there..., as to know if these hand-built PBC produced engines found in Camaro's to be more rare... i guess only time will tell.

As for 6th gen Camaro ZL1's..., they started production in 2017, but all received Tonnawanda engines up until 2020, where the ZL1's had a mixed inventory of LT4's supplied by both Tonnawanda and the Performance Build Center in bowling green Kentucky.
By the way, Tonnawanda is an excellent engine building facility thats been producing some serious reliable muscle for years now.

But so far i think its in 2018 that Chevy produced the most 6th gen ZL1's if my memorys good, ... somewhat over 6000. And the years that followed saw a big drop in the number of ZL1's produced.
What i'm wondering is... are we ever going to see production numbers as high as the 4000 range for the ZL1... seeing that GM is having more and more engines for other models being produced by the PBC in Kentucky.

Take care

Andrew

Andrew,

I know Tonnawanda makes great engines. My first car, a 1969 Chevy Impala that I bought for $495 in 1978, had a 350/300hp V8 that had that little chrome sticker on the valve cover stating that it was built by the Tonnawanda #1 Team. At 18 years old, I thought that was super cool!

That little reminiscing done, I do hope that they can sell more numbers of Camaros in general, and ZL1s specifically. I'd hate to see the mark die again.

Thanks for all your research,

Tara

No idea how to paste a picture into the dialog box. Built 10/20, engine built by Anthony Terry in Bowling Green.

Driver side door jamb has the month/year, if you want the exact day, email socialmedia@gm.com and request your build data sheet based on your VIN.
