18 oil pump issue
Welp, I've used a aeroforce gauge for a while and always thought it was more accurate than the dash.. someone told me to look at oil pressure 2 and it is more inline with the dash display, looks like I'm around 20 psi when warm 🤦. I always drive it very mellow especially in these colder months, and have not driven it much since I noticed the pressure seemimg to go lower. Going to start hunting around for a shop to do the work. If anyone has any recommendations in the Sacramento area please let me know.

Your oil pump is giving you a fair warning that it may be on its way out. Any oil pressure reading around 20 psi is an early sign of oil pump failure (mine was at 20 psi, then I parked the car).
If you order an oil pump email Katech directly or contact Katech_Mike who is a member here. They're really good at responding to emails and will give you a good idea when you may see your ordered oil pump. When I had ordered my oil pump, it came in quicker than anticipated. |

So the next question.... you going to throw a cam in it since it's right there?

I've honestly never given it thought. But you are correct. If I do I want it to be mild, as I live in California 🤣 but also at this point I have to figure out of I want to keep the car after the repair.

Is that before yours failed? Those pressures sound similar to what I currently have. Did u have any internal damage? My car still sounds great, no ticks or odd noises.

The oil pump didn't fail. The pressure was always fine. I changed to KaTech for its reliability. The only failures I know of are one seized lifter and the harmonic balancer disintegrated, and it was installed incorrectly. We found foreign material in the windage tray and the oil. We'll flush the oil cooler next week.

Your dashboard pic looks like the oil pressure in my 2017 ZL1 when warm and sitting at idle. Mine has over 26,000 miles now. I’m definitely keeping tabs when driving and fingers crossed that the pump doesn’t fail.

Yeah my cold oil pressure at start is 34-35 then settles to 30. Checked my idle and at temp it settles the needle right at 20 BUT I just realized the last shop I took it to changed the oil at synthetic 5w30 wonder if that has anything to do with it, not 0w40

I’m using 5w30 synthetic oil in mine.

Did some research, if it's correct 0w40 is 37% thicker? After talking with some friends who are very active with the tuning community, seem to think that's why we're seeing lower pressures. I'm going to change it either tomorrow or Monday and I'll let you know what the pressures look like.
