Any one try Kooks LT Headers + Greencats paired to Stock NPP exhaust?

I hear it does not require a tune and no CEL.

Thoughts?

I'm fairly certain you'd want to tune that.

I was told there was no need for a tune with that set up by 2 different shops?

Well if they're reputable shops they just might know better than I, which makes sense...they make their living off this stuff and I certainly do not!

It needs a tune. If you don't tune it, you'll see no gain. You will get a Check engine light, I do not know how they're saying you won't unless they're just going to disable it. The ECU will eventually adjust to the change and close the throttle accordingly to maintain the stock torque parameters and you won't notice a thing except it will be louder. LT Headers with or without cats completely removes all factory catalytic converters and the o2 sensors which are now either vacant (no cats) or plugged into a high performance cat will know. Plus, you have a chance of knock and your engine may run worse due to lean or rich conditions.

So I'm contemplating going from an A10 Zl1 with a Borla ATAK on it to either a Z06 or 1LE. I stopped by to drive the 1LE to see if I feel like I could live with the suspension (I will maybe track 1-2 times a year). During the drive it did stand out how quiet the stock exhaust is...I'd forgotten over the past few months.

As far as the suspension...it didnt really answer many questions. Not that much worse, but bad enough that it could get annoying. I don't know...

I guess you have to ask yourself why you really want the 1LE and weigh if it’s worth dealing with the riding ride the other 363 days a year. I haven’t driven a Z06. One of the attractions to the ZL1 1LE was all the reviewers commenting how robust the car is. No overheating and it’s a more cohesive package than the Z06 for track duty.... I haven’t enough time behind the wheel to give a real opinion. Drove it home and it’s been snowing since.

There is no rational reason I want the 1LE other than I like it. I don't daily the car (Tesla has that duty) so it's pretty much just a toy. I will say the ride isn't as harsh as I was expecting. As far as the Z06, I really like the targa roof on the Vettes, but I don't want to lose my ass on the value of the car when the C8 comes out...which is also on my list. The third option is just keep my current ZL1 until the new Z06 comes out on the C8 platform. First world problems...

Finished my stainless works catback tonight, i think that’ll help my volume and overall sound issue with mine. I was afraid i wouldn’t be totally happy until i was able to do headers(which i noticed there seems to be more room on these when installing compared to a s550), but i really really liked the sound it put out.

Run and hide from ANY shop that tells you that!!! In addition to the fact that it will flash a CEL and have drivability issues for a host of reasons, why would you spend all the money on expensive headers and cats but then not spend money to maximize the investment that you just made?
