Randy Pobst drives an SS 1LE at Track Night!!!

Video below is not my video! That is Kyle's Red SS 1LE he actually showed up to this Charlotte Roval Track Night In America on the waiting list and was lucky enough to get out there with us and talked Randy Pobst into driving his SS 1LE out in the Advanced group! Randy is the MAN!!! He talked to us for a good 20-30 min about the GT350 and SS 1LE. I don't want to go all fan boy but he is a huge fan of the SS 1LE and the new ZL1 1LE. He didn't hesitate to claim that the SS 1LE over matches the GT350 non R and said he thinks it would take the GT350R if both cars were on R compound tires.

Check out Kyle's channel to see his other vids of his driving, he got a few shots chasing me as well! We all ran in Novice so there was a fair bit of traffic but it still was a once in a lifetime experience. I got to chat with RP for a long time and got to experience what its like to "send it" into Nascar turn 3 at 147mph!!! EPIC NIGHT!!!

Here is Randy's lap in Kyles car!

I was there. I spoke with Randy for a few minutes. What a nice guy.
I was late signing up, so I didn't get to run my car.
Awesome evening..

I wonder if our 1LEs can hit 150 MPH on the track. Maybe Road America? I would've thought that the 1LE could do it at an oval like Charlotte. Anyone run Daytona or Talledega?

BTW, any idea of the top speed in the 1LE given a long enough straight? 170? 175?

Very cool opportunity!

My goodness is that infield tight. Talk about yin-yang of a circuit.

Not at Charltotte without a huge set of balls! It took all the guts I had to send it into turn 3 at 147mph!!!

I bet higher. High 180s

I thought the same watching other videos before I went there but after my first lap on track it completely flips your perspective! The infield feels incredibly big and safe, but the high banks feel very narrow! I can tell you it certainly is slamming you down in the seat at 130mph exiting turn 2 and that wall is staring you down for sure. The car was fine never felt like it was in danger but it required a lot more guts than I expected it would! I was behind a C7 Z06 at the end of my first run and he was a very solid driver in my opinion and his comfort zone was about 100mph through the high banks.

Bottom line if you ever have the chance to run this track DO IT!!! Once in a lifetime experience!!!

The knee pad I would assume, I've had a few other 1LE owners say they have knocked them off with their knee while on track or doing Auto Cross. I swapped out the crappy plastic ones for suede ones as soon I got my car and they have yet to come loose since then, so Idk maybe the plastic ones just aren't as secure.

At Daytona they can hit 150+ without question. I'm pretty sure MatthewAMEL exceeded that a few times back in May. I know I can get 140+ in mine...and it has two less cylinders.

Did the Indy Car driving experience there with an open cockpit at 140 in the banks is epic!

Looked like fun for sure!

Updated original post with my videos from all 3 sessions! I didn't get to every single car in Novice but I feel like I could run with anyone out there. This car is amazing!
