Rim / wheel weight
Does anyone know the weight for the stock 5 spoke wheels that come with the ss? Thank you.

Keep in mind these weight are taken with my household scale, not some crazy pro status scale. It also includes balance weights and sensors from factory.
Stock 5 Spoke Silver Aluminum SS Rims 8.5": 29.8 lbs 9.5": 30.6 lbs Black Painted 5 Spoke Rims 8.5": 32.2 lbs 9.5": 32.4 lbs

One of the easiest ways to get better acceleration: gears and lighter wheels.

They are actually lighter than I thought. 18x8s on the GTO were 29 lbs. and the camaro's are 20s.

The 19s on the G8GT were light, but buttery soft. If you rode within 10' of a pothole, they'd bend anyways.

So does going 19" wheel with a larger tire save weight?
I'm not well versed in the "way of the wheel". I've typically stuck with the stock wheels on all my cars. I know that they are almost always heavier but, I'be never been a racer so never seen the need. I am considering aftermarket for this car. And, I'm not oblivious to the benefits of lighter wheels. 30 lbs is a pretty heavy wheel. I know it's a 20" but, that's a huge difference to many 18" wheels

Here's wheels in a nutshell from my perspective and the several sets I bought. A top set like Forgeline ($1500 each) that are completely custom, for your 20’s , weigh somewhere around 21-22 , sometimes even 20. Then you have the semi-forged wheels like TSW (300 each) at 24-25 ,and then the GM wheels always coming in around 28 and up.

Shaving 30-44lbs can make a difference, but not if you don't plan to max your car out for track etc...

Wow those are heavy, but they are 20's. My 17x11's on my SS are 15lbs.
