For what it's worth, my last 5th gen ZL1, both with a stock dual disk and an aftermarket triple disk, felt like any other clutch.

Yes I saw that. The OEM TTY bolt calls for 240 ft/lbs so we didn’t think 130 was going to be a problem.

I put a ZL1 clutch in my SS. The SS and ZL1 clutches look and perform exactly the same, but there must be something different as they have different part numbers. My guess is the ZL1 pressure plate may use stronger springs.

I hope you’re right.

We noticed right away it took more effort in my ZL1 than it did in my son’s SS. Not a ton of effort, but noticeably more.

How the prices of these things have increased remind of the mid 2000s Ford GTs.

Man I wish I would have bought two and sold one to afford the other.

Well, damn. If I'd known that I would have looked into an LT5 clutch!

Took it to the track, clutch is definitely starting to slip. Ordered the stock clutch, pilot bearing, and actuator. Read as many clutch threads here as I could find. What other parts do I need? Does the flywheel need to be replaced or can it be resurfaced? I have the LT1/MM6 shop manual but not the LT4. Considering a subscription to the online manuals. I have done a lot of work but never replaced a clutch. Looks like 80% of the work is just getting to it.

I'm not sure about the replacement or resurfacing of the flywheel itself, but you probably will want to replace the flywheel bolts.

I've had the stock ones on Gen IV motors stretch and break during re-use. I can't remember if they are TTY or not? ARP may make some that are replacements for the LT's?

You won't have any trouble replacing the clutch given your history with this project. Good luck!

Thanks, I’m upgrading to the Katech flywheel. They recommend new stock bolts.

Bring back from the dead. Did you end up getting this sorted?

Yes, eventually it started working fine. Maybe just needed to get some time on it. Not slipping even with slicks at the track.
